I doubt any one will be paying to ride this any time soon.

opps yea.....

also later found out that the ride is 6 cars carrying 4 people each so it's 24 people every 2 mins. So propabaly averages out to the same or more.

Still 1 out of a crap load odds!!!

My entire math was waaaay off...

24 per ride every 2 mins = 720 per hour

720 people and hour 14 hours a day = 10,080 per day

10080 per day 6 days a week = 60,480 per week

60,480 per week = 241,920 per month

5 months = 1,209,600 per year

running for 12 years = 14,515,200

So roughly 1 out of 14.5 million odd of something happening........

Edited ot add thats beeing very conservative..... Thats assumng they are only opne Monday-Saturday don't open on sunday (which I think they do but not as long. Thats also only having them open 5 months a year, which I think they are open for more.)

i was watching CNN and they had told me about this.....i wish they didn't but then again i have never and i mean NEVER!! trusted those drop things, and i do not trust six flags either, i only like rollercoasters that aren't wood(ill ride them but they scare me), this could have been prevented, why were the cables exposed just a few feet from those people's legs?, in orlando they have one of those thats called Dr. Doom or something like that and the cables are enclosed i think, whatever this **** freaks me out, i would of puked or had nightmares if i was there to see it

-i DON"T think it's FUNNY either!

In Gurnee at 6 flags great america there is an old *** wooden coaster, probly 50-60 years old called the Eagle. It has something like 100-150ft drop and you get going about 60. Every couple of years they run it backwards. Anyone else been on any backwards coasters?

Dont recall even being in a backwards wooden coaster......

Ohh yes I have!!!

They ran Fire in the Hole @ Steal your Dollar City backwards one time when I was there. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, that coaster is a 3, backwards maybe get it to 3.25.
I could literally drink a soda, eat cotton candy and not even notice the ride was going....... YAWN!

Top Thrill Dragster is my favorite .. Cedar Point rocks!

I love the sign in the loading area.. can't remember the exact wording, but says somethign to the effect of:

When the light comes on, please place your head firmly against the headrest, or the ride will do it for you!

420 feet high .. 120 mph ..

if you want to freak out .. watch this video .. in 2005, the launch weight calc was a bit off, and the ride stalled at the absolute top .. riders were stuck 425 in the air for over 15 minutes.. http://www.xtremecoastin.com/videos/...stuck_2005.htm a park worker had to climb all the way to the top, then give it a push to get started again .. lol

and Kingda Ka is higher .. can't wait to ride it.

I have heard of that one, some friends and I talked about making a road tip to Cedar point a few years ago. We just havent been able to coordinate when we all have time and money to go. I will make it one day with or with out them!

You know, the mechanics they hire to repair or do PM on those rides aren't the smartest of guys. I can't fathom the things they miss or let slip by.

I remember when that ride was called "The Hellivator". Then it changed to "The Tower or Power", now it "SuperMan". I think I've rode that ride about 20-25 times. MOst likely sat in that little girl's chair a time or two...

I'd still ride it again though.

But somthing doesn't add up here.....

"During the ride, passengers are lifted to 177 feet, suspended momentarily and then dropped, according to the park's Web site.

Passengers drop 154 feet at 54 mph, stopping "just 20 terrifying feet above the pavement," it adds."

There's an extra 3 feet there than somebody needs to investigate.

EDIT: The way I picture it happening is the cable looped around her ankles and then was pulled tight and clipped em' right off. Not a whiplash type event, but basically shearing them off.

Hey now!
