Check this out: What is this? Radiator Issue?
If you mix red and green antifreeze then it make s a mucky, rusty, muddy mess much like that and that clogs up radiator, the thermostat and the water ports in the engine and heads.
Depending on how muich was mixed and how long it's been ran it may or may not be fixable.
You would have to drain the system, take the radiator off and take it to a radiator shop to have it rotted out.
Then you would remove the thremostat and use a garden hose to flush the engine and heads from the top down. You are back flushing hopping to push any clogs out. Also flush the radiator hoses good.
Install the radiator when you get it back, insatll hoses fill with and strasight water and add engine flush.
Follow directions on bottle to flush.
Once the engine flush is drained, flush radiator with garden hose. Then install new thermostat and gasket, fill with 50/50 correct antifreeze and water. Monitor temp gauge and check tank for depris daily for a month or so.
If depris is found, drain, remove radiator, flush from bottum to top backwards with water hose, flush block, new thermostat and try again.
Moral of teh story boys and girls, DO NOT MIX RED AND GREEN antifreeze.

Why would he have his radiator "rotted" out????
The term is actually "RODDED" out. They remove the tanks from the radiator and run "rods" through each of the veins.
Just a little FYI. Just want to make sure he tells the radiator shop the right thing so they don't goof on him....

Learn something new everyday, I always thought it was rotted.
I thought it was a chemical bath charged with electricity liike a reverse electroplating that ate the build up out or something. I can not tell you how I came up with that, the process was never explained to me and I never researched it. I sent one to a radiator shop 15 years ago with some one to have done and havent had to since (knock on wood) but thats what I assumed they did.

The only time I have ever stepped into a radiator shop was when I was 19 and was checking to see if it was cost effective to repair a heater core and turned out it wasnt much more to replace. Since it was a PIB to change I went with new.
