Buy a $3000 90's Honda of some sort. Problem solved.

My 95' Civic gets 32mpg while my F150 gets 12mpg.

I used to have a 1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo, it was alot of fun. It wasn't really fast (15ish in the qtr) but was quick enough and got a shy 30mpg. It is also the same car as a Mitsubishi Eclipse or Eagle Talon. Insurance was a little cheaper than my F-150, registration was $30 per year. Insurance would have probably been cheaper with a multicar discount, I sold the car a week after I got my truck, kinda wish I would have kept it.

Well the only question that really matters here, is,

Do you have a nice cash flow coming out of your rear end?
Or maybe a nice cash line from mommy and daddy?

If so, then go for the good mpg car for summer where you dont have to worry about gaining the money back yo uspent on the car.

If not, no.

Ding Ding Ding.

Nothing like superb performance, sporty styling, 40mpg and riding a nice twisty road.
Get a used bike for only a few grand and the insurance will be dirt cheap.

Trust me I've been banging numbers too.......

I drive between 100-400 miles a day, Probably average out to about 250 per day. Last month my gas bill was $800 and some change. I average just under 16 mpg ussualy. If I can get something with 25 mpg thats a 65% saving so my $800 bill would drop to $520. Thats an additional $280 in my pocket. Wear and tear dont count I can only drive one at a time and going to be wearing on something. Additinal insurance for a second car would be maybe $10 a month for liability. So I still have $270 in my pocket. If I pick up a beater for $10,000, it would take a little over 3 years for it to pay for it's self in gas savings.
At the end of 3 years if I would have left that money in a savings account only getting say 4% annually...... that $10K would be $11,248.64, now I have anohter $1,248.64 I need to make up to pay for the car. So tack on another 4.5 months at $270 a month gas saving to make up for the loss earnings. 3 years 5 months later I would finally enjoy the savings........ But now the dang car is wore out, if it lasted that long!!!!!!
