Well since we are on the topic, I have a story... the first house bought, once I decided to get married was on a court, and you know how people can't park on a court, pull in head first to the curb as opposed to against the curb.
Anyway the mail person would refuse to get out of her Jeep and put the mail in the boxes if a car was blocking her path. I always parked in my driveway but neighbors would park infront of my house thus I would not get any mail. Once I saw her lazy a** try to push a car out of the way so she could get a few more feet closer without getting out.
Needless to say she is no longer and I no longer live there.

BTW the counter help is slow to, they always seem to go behind the wall for minutes at a time when they can clearly see 10 15 people waiting in line and come back with nothing in hand, they must be doing the drugs.

Hey, where's Burt lately, I still remember that picture I doctored up a few yrs ago of Burt and Rockpick titled "fudgepackers?
Remember the pic of the 2 guys actually filling boxes full of fudge, and the title "Fudge Packers" at the top? HAHAHA

I superimposed Burt's & Rockpicks face onto the original photo.

I'd give anything for that picture back.

The #1 worst though was this:

My girlfriend's brother died (at the age of 24) this January and we were sitting in their house on the day of the viewing. It was roughly 9am and his parents just recieved a call from the Insurance company that they were not going to pay out his life insurance policy (great timing huh).

Well over the next hour quite a bit of family arrive and it was obvious by looking at the driveway and road that something was going on at their house.

The post man goes pulls up to the mailbox to deliver the daily mail. He had already left a nasty note the week before that was littered with incorrect spelling and diction, not to mention rude words. He left this letter to express his distaste for the size of their mailbox. Which by the way is the standard small size, not a jumbo like the one at my house (which is in a completely different part of the city). He said they recieved too many letters and larger envelopes and he was tired of having to "fit" them into the mailbox. He demanded through the use of profanity they purchase and install a jumbo size mailbox. Keep in mind during this time they were recieving letters regarding their son who was in home hospice fighting brain cancer.

Well this Post Office delivery gentleman walks up to the front door and throughs a large size envelope at the door and pounds on the door. I walk to the door as the family is crying and talking together. I open the door and he immediately starts shouting about "how many times do I have to tell you about the larger mailbox" and "why the hell do you have so many cars around here, you're making my driving near the mailbox difficult".

I quickly walked outside and shut the door and quietly told him exactly what I thought of his letter and demands. I then also proceeded to inform him of his poor timing and that I would be calling his supervisor in the afternoon.

Needless to say he hasn't been a problem for them since....and that small standard size mailbox remains. I have a inkly to put a minature version that couldn't fit a stamp out there one day at her parents house, just to really **** him off.

It's unfortunate that scumbags like this letter carrier can do so much damage to somebody's opinion of the USPS. There is never an excuse for a carrier to use profanity or leave rude letters for a customer. You did the right thing in calling the supervisor and let them handle it.
As far as cars blocking the mailbox, the carrier will not dismount the vehicle to deliver mail around parked cars. They will simply not deliver the mail. Too many safety and security issues. But it is NOT an excuse to be rude.

That was exactly the point I made to the supervisor. That while someone could parallel park next to the mailbox (car in front and in back of it, with room to park a car in front of the mailbox), but even with an obstacle suck as this, it is no excuse for being profane.

Yeah I'd be interested in seeing how that all looked as it was before my time.

I'm sure RP would LOVE it too!

Well, mail processing clerks are the ones you don't wanna mess with anyway. **** us off and we'll make sure your Mother's Day card ends up in someplace like Detriot, Chicago or the southeast's black hole (aka Atlanta). Not only will your card be late or lost, but your mommy will be mad at you.

One post office in this area has been stealing out of certain mail items, ie birthday cards. The recipients have been getting their cards, but the gift cards and the like sent in the cards' envelope are gone. Mail order medical prescritions containing certain pain killers have been reported stolen from mail that has flowed through that PO as well.

Yeah, it happens. We had a clerk stealing oxycontin (sp). The customer complained and the inspection service nabbed her. As they were escorting her off the floor in handcuffs, another package fell out of her shirt. "I don't know where that came from" she said.

Make sure you contact your PO and tell them what's happening. The postal inspection service will catch them.

I'm usually at the USPS several times a week dropping off packages and my frustration comes from the overwhelming number of unprepared idiots in line as opposed to the postal workers. I see the same things day after day with people.

- People get in line with their packages or envelopes and they start filling out the paperwork when they're at the counter as opposed to filling it out before they get in line. Even though there are signs with all the services and rates, they never fail to question the clerks about the info that they could have read on the signs in front of them and then they want each service explained to them, etc.

- I frequently see mothers in line who let their kids run all over the place and they're constantly having to check on their kids as they're at the counter. As they're scolding their kids, they completely forget what they're doing and start talking with the clerk about their kids as the rest of us wait in line. Then you've got the mothers who sit their kids on the counter next to the sign that says "Don't sit your kids on the counter". Two weeks ago a kid fell off the counter while I was in line and the mother was screaming at the postal worker about their counters being too weak. DUH...READ THE SIGN!!!!

- And let's not forget the story tellers or the lonely people who get in line and want to have a full on conversation with the postal clerk as opposed to doing business. I usually see the elderly (but not always) who want to talk about their vacation or their health, etc, and you can see the frustration in the postal workers face as they try nicely to terminate the conversation to get the line moving, but some folks just don't get it and they'll stand there talking to dead air without any concern about the people in line behind them.

- Another thing I seen often are the small home based business people that bring in their bushells of packages without any paperwork whatsoever. They want all their packages weighed so they can get their rates and then they take up the whole damn counter as they spend 20+ minutes filling out all the postal paperwork, paying their postage, filling out their labels and sticking on their labels, etc. This essentially closes down a good portion of the post office and frustrates the hell out of the people like me who are in back of them. Even though 'our' post offices have signs telling people not to do this, it happens every day and these people get down right nasty when the postal workers try to move them out of the way to improve the flow.

- Last year there was a lady with 247 packages she was mailing for the girl scouts. She had all the shipping info hand written in a little black book, but none of the packages were weighed, none of the lables were filled out, etc, and she insisted on seperate transactions for each package as opposed to paying a total price. The packages were strewn out all over the floor and took up 70% of the floor space and completely blocked 4 out of the 6 service windows of this particular post office. The postal workers were in awe just as I was when I walked in.

I could go on and on about this crap, but being a postal worker can't be easy from what I've seen. I pay all my postage and print my labels online for the carriers I use (USPS, UPS, DHL, FedEx), which not only saves me postage, but it saves me a good bit of time. I simply hand the packages to the clerk who scans them in and gives me a receipt before I leave. If more people came prepared to the post offices in my area, it would certainly speed up the flow a great deal.

I've had my share of problems with a couple USPS people, but I've had good experiences with most of them. And I've had really good luck with the USPS Global EMS and Global Priority services when shipping to Japan, Spain, Australia, Scotland, Africa, Canada, Germany, France, etc.

i just stopped at the post office to get some 2¢ stamps. I also picked up a sheet of Star Wars stamps. I was lucky, they had two tellers open and only three people in front of me so i was in and out in only 15 minutes.
