Computer help needed... IT guys...
Short and sweet: I just installed a router at home, everything is hardwired. Internet is working, but it is saying that there is an IP address error in the system... How do I fix this so I can use both computers at the same time? Right now the other computer is unplugged from the router so I could get on the internet...
Shut down both computers and router
Start the router
when booted Start computer 1
Once computer 1 is booted start computer 2
If you still experince problems go to computer 1
Go to run, type: CMD
when the prompt opens type: ipconfig /release *Con*
then type: ipconfig /renew
Go to computer 2 and repeat.

PSS - that will only work if the TCO/IP protocol in Network Connections is set to 'Obtain IP addresses dynamically'.
Z.. to check on each pc:
- right click on 'My Network Places'
- right click on 'local area connection'
- click 'properties'
- select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- click 'properties'
- ensure the ''Obtain IP addresses dynamically' radio button is selected
- click OK. OK ..
Then do as PSS suggests if required.
This should also be in the router manual or extended user doc.
Cheers

Sounds like you have static IP address on both machines. You should set both of them to "Obtain IP Address Automatically". One of the replies above mentioned how to do that, but, here it is again...
Go to Control Panel
Open "Network Connections"
Right click on the icon for "Local Area Connection"
Click "Properties"
Highlight "TCP/IP"
Click on "Properties"
Make sure that "Obtain IP Address Automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically" are BOTH selected.
Click OK and close all windows then reboot.
Do this on both PC's.
Give me your CC# so I can bill you my $125 fee.

My bill is only $99.99. Payable in pie from this pie place that you've told me about in Rolla. I love me some pie...
I dont need a CC#, just bring an extra beer or two for me when we go camping next month. Or this month if your GF lets you come.
