The FX2's are sweet little trucks -- I love the red accents on the interior and the availability of a leather interior! I wish they had been available in '05, as I definitely would have purchased one instead of my XLT.......

I will always have atleast one 4wd, right now it's the wifes. I'd always gotten 4wd until this truck, In the almost 3 years that I've had it, I can only remember three times that it would have been nice and once just last weekend that I had to go get my wifes Explorer because I just couldn't do it in 2wd.

I've never had a problem pulling my 20' power boat or my PWC's out of the water with my 2wd. If all you got is a couple of PWC, alot of people use small cars and mini vans.

2wd is better for hauling.

Unless you're hauling them in snow or ice...

On dry "or wet for that matter" pavement, you will never once need to use the 4wd to haul a load of anything. You'll have plenty of traction.

Everyday???? NON
Occasionaly, by ocasinally I'm talking once or twice a year, then you might run into situations where it is or in my case would be nice to have. Rarely is it "needed".

However, since this will be a new experince for you, I'd say make it a requirement for atleast the next few years you spend here. When winter weather strikes, which was a total of 5 times this year and this was an extremely bad year. Just try not to go anywhere unless you "have to", because people become idiots and most dont know how to drive on snow or ice, it's a 90% risk that somebody is going to slide into you. Have it though incase your caught out in it when it hits. The roads are ussually cleared to drive on with in 24 hours. The bad ice storm in Feburary of this year was an exception, but that hadn't happened in 20 years.
I still got around fine in my 2wd during it though, I stopped and helped alot of 4wd's out of the ditch. I got ran off the road once into a deep ditch on a solid sheet of ice and the guy stopped and pulled me out. Even if I'd had 4wd I likely wouldn't have been able to avoid it or gotten out on my own. I was high centered with nothing but ice under my tires, he had to jerk me a few times to get me to moving so he could pull me out.

Thanks Mag and everyone else -

After searching inventory on Ford's website FX2 isn't listed but that is indeed because of the fact that the truck is an XLT. When you look at the sticker it's listed as an option package.

I have driven the Tundra and now the FX2-F150 and am driving the Silverado/Sierra later this week. Even though Mag has written a detailed review of the TUndra, I'll write about my experience later this week. Y'all might be surprised how someone who sang the praises of a Toyota truck felt about it after driving it around more extensively.

But for now . . . it's second day of Indy qualifying.

Don't be a fool, she needs a Powerstroke to pull a Yacht.

And Kobi, my 2wd F-150 did fine in the snow and ice this winter, and it was a "rough" winter for us. The only reason I could see you having problems in the snow/ice with an FX2 would be because of your tire limitations with the 20"s. There aren't really any all-terrain tires that will fit your truck without a huge lift. Oh, and make sure you get the limited slip. One wheel peels up the boat ramp aren't any fun.

After some research, I find that the 20s were an option and that the FX2 comes standard with 18" and all-terrain tires. (There were Pirellis on the 20s I tested . . . such is the way in Lost Angeles )

I've got time to sort this all out so I'll consider and check out every detail and then decide.

And yeah, I was told repeatedly that they had lots of snow this past winter in this town I'm going to . . . but that it was the most they have had in 20 years (and lasted on the ground longer than anyone could remember).

Imagine that.

Yea it was exactly 20 years, the year was 1986, I was in the 6th grade, I still remember it well. Probbaly wont get another one like that for another 20 years. So if history repeats it's self we wont get much more than dustings with a couple of 6" snows until 2026.

If your still in the area then I'd advise buying a large generator in 2025.

Had I not had 4X4 I would have had to pay one of them boys to pull me out. Or what if nobody was there? I had left my wife in town so she could do some shopping, had no cell service. I would have been screwed. That's why I have 4X4.
It's very rare to see 4X2's here in Montana.
Same reason I got the FX4.

Wouldn't you be happier with the Lincoln MKX? If I didn't need a pickup I'd get one of the them. I love the one D got, its a sweet vehicle.
