Where's the Vaseline?

So this is great... I'm losing my job due to outsourcing, right? Ok, whatever. Well my group has fully transitioned to Costa Rica, but my term date isn't until June 29th so they bumped me over to a new support group. I never got any training with this new group so I was taking calls going "Yes, I do support that application. Can you spell that for me?" Yea, fun stuff. At least there are 3 of us in the same boat... we're totally confused but I guess that's the Intel way.

Here's the good stuff. We get told 3 days ago that the TAC (technical assistance center) needs help so they're moving us over there now.... WHERE WE ALL ORIGINALLY CAME FROM! We left the TAC years ago for more "technical" / better paying jobs.... and now we're getting demoted back to the basics. Okay.... again..... WHATEVER! But today..... oh this is great..... I get a calendar invite for "re-training on TAC biz" from a guy who I originally trained 4 years ago! Can you believe that? I laugh, but at the same time I want to kick upper mgt in the ****. Thanks for your 9+ years of dedication to the company.... crying

here you go:

It's one of the problems of businesses so large they have no idea what they are doing (at least within each division).

You have my sympathy.

I could have sworn you said you were a nurse before...

So, you work in a TAC? I feel your pain.

So, did your job get outsourced to the Philippines, Brazil, or India?

Meh. That's nothing.

I use this these days so I can still feel it.

Take your calls with a heavy foreign accent.

Repeat everything to them but incorrectly.

After 20 minutes, just tell them thank you for calling and threaten to hang up.

Once the person is good and frustrated....tell them "get use to this its coming in June."

I'll be your nurse ;-)

All of Intel's technical support is going to be in Costa Rica during US hours, then Malaysia during their day hours.

LOL- Don't threaten me with a good time!

Sorry to hear about that. The only good thing about it, is that you all know it's coming. That happened to me in 2004. New born baby, new truck, and unemployment looming on the horizon. Scary times indeed.

If you all have an internal bulletin board for jobs, now's the time.
That's what I did, otherwise, I'd be typing you from Cary, NC- rather than Texas. I think I aged 6 years over the 5 months I knew my job was ending...

Ahh... gotta love large corporations. Of course, small ones bite just as much. There are days I'd rather be a pig farmer than work here.

My job is slowly getting outsourced to Czechoslovakia. They won't admit it to any of the workers though. Workers in Czech get paid roughly $850/year. Average worker in my plant gets paid about $20,000/yeah.

They just opened up a plant over there last year and have it up and running making the EXACT same thing we make.

Funny how jobs are being let go during our "Busy" season. Jobs won't "pick back up" untill our "Slow" season.. That makes alot of sense!

The whole company is on it's way out of my town and into other countries.. I tried to tell some of the "Lifers" that when I first started. They plan on working there until retirement... I told them to learn to speak Czech.
