go order the truck already- the dealer can put the paperwork thru when the 08 build starts...
things can be switched out by the dealer on the lot- the rear slider-to solid repleacement is easy... plus why do you want a rear window defroster--in houston???(I'm curious) I live up here in Montana, where we see -30 to -50* F regularly with upwards of 25' snow annually, and have not once in the two years I've had my truck, had a spec of frost on the rear window.
you know what you want, and I'm not challenging you there- i'm the same way--- just sayin that if you find one that is 95% on target, making that last 5% is easy...

once your order has officially been placed, expect 6-8 weeks avg for it to show up on the lot. I ordered my truck to MY specs on March 15th, 2005 It has an official stamp of 4.14.05 build date, and took delivery the first week of May, 2005

yes rear defroster is wanted...in houston we have very high humidity. for about 6 months out of the year it could be 70-74 for the low. turn on the a/c and the back window looks like a bottle of sweating beer. the front glass doesnt do it...i guess the wind going over the front keeps it down but my back one now sure does...the rear defroster works great on my wifes vehicle to kill the window sweat in the warm humid nights.

I've seen a few superCrew HD on dealer lots, but not many on the road...

They don't appear to be NEARLY as popular as the old, curvy HD's were.

DVD player...

I would pass on the factory one, where you get totally ripped off, and have headrest monitors put in. They make some really cool ones each with a seperate DVD player that is tucked in behind the screen. The factory ones are horrible compared to some of the aftermarket ones. I have seen some with 15" screens. Our Explorer has an aftermarket drop down DVD player and we have the power moonroof.

It sounds like you may have to wait until September/October. If you are that dead set on what you want (which is your choice) and tht the HD's are limited run--either you take what they have with minor items that you may not want; OR, you wait until you can order persactly what you do want.

If you're dealership did a nationwide search and not the right combo came up. I don't think looking on the net is going to help much.

I looked at one last month but it had sunroof and nav. system. Which I didn't want. They found me a truck with everything but heated seats and back up sensors. I bought it though. I'll have the back up sensors added. The heated seats were for the Mrs., she is always cold, even in Florida after all the cemo and radiation treatments she had.

Great truck. Have to add something to help the step up into though. My legs are too short.

Oh, by the way, it's Ameythst. Really looks great in the Florida sun.
