Nacogdoches, Texas

So Im driving my truck from Houston up Hiway 59 to Atchison, Kansas. I got my case of Dr. pepper, My Trusty Subway Sandwich { A lovely Roast Beef and Swiss }, I got my Sirius cranked and my My CB Squelch wide open.

I have 19 hours to get 820 miles down the road. { The things my Dispatcher does to me } I'm totally wired on Jolly Ranchers and Pixie sticks. Every thing is going just fine, Just another day.....right?

Then I get to the almost impossible to pronounce...... " Nacogdoches ".

I come flying into town. " Yes, My truck actually flys ". The next thing I know I have this cop behind me with his lights on. I'm like " WTF? Im not speeding?...... Am I? "

Any decent truck driver will always second guess his velocity

So I pull over and this cop has me walk around to his car. He said " I noticed you werent wearing your seat-belt, In the State of Texas all occupants are required to be restrained....."

He didnt even get to finish. You see, I have this really bad habit of saying stupid stuff. Its not my fault. It isnt like Im actually trying to say it. Some times stupid stuff just fall out of my mouth.

So yes, I interupted the kind officer to ask....
You actually pulled me over for that??? Oh my god...

He then gave me this dirty look. I just rolled my eyes. He gave me my ticket and told me I needed to call the judge in 14 days. I looked at the ticket as he drives off.

$130 plus court costs

So now im mad right. I get back in the truck. I get going again and I start sputtering into my CB incoherantly. You know.... Stuff like " $130 my ****" " Fug that cop " " Texas can kiss my...."

WOOOP WOOOP

I'll be damned if it isnt another cop pulling me over.

This is no lie. I got pulled over again for not wearing a seat belt.

I couldnt beleive it. I didnt even get two miles?

I say absolutely nothing this time.......

I get my ticket and he tells me that I have 14 days to call the judge.

He then tells me
" Drive safely........ and remember, Dont mess with Texas "

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Sincerely,
Powned in Texas

I guess the cops in Texas listen to their CB's....

Really, wearing a seatbelt in a big truck is not as big a deal as in a four-wheeler. If you get into an accident in an 80,000 lb. truck, you're probably not going to be flying around the cab, if you feel it at all. With the obvious exceptions.

didnt learn your lesson huh? Driving on 20 east once we saw a car go flying by then about 5 minutes later he was pulled over getting a ticket. then 45 minutes later he comes flying past us again probably doing about 90mph then not much longer we see him getting pulled over for speeding ticket #2. We laughed so hard....

Nack - A - Doe - Chez

That's pretty close.

Oh, and most of the cops in the state of Texas are ******.

I've met ONE (1) "human cop", the rest were from planet A-hole.

Jamz, he had the Spanish accent on it, yours is the Gringo. Booder, you are both correct. Incidently, the town was the first town in Texas, was colonized by Moses and Stephen F. Austin, and had the first public land set aside for schools. It is named after a tribe of Indians.

I wear a seat belt now but I hate it. I hate laws that make me protect myself. Should be my choice.

I agree, but the state has to make money some how.

That's all it is. Money.

The state doesn't give two chit's about you, your health, your family, or your life....they just want your money.

Sad, but true.

My wife got a ticket for the same thing down in Houston. I really think the amount of fine for that offense is ridiculous!

By the way, I'll be right behind you -- I've got to make the godawful drive up 59 to Texarkana tomorrow, and then on to Mena, AR, on Saturday morning. I despise driving 59 until you get north of Lufkin. Unfortunately, while it sucks, it's still the best way to travel N/S through East Texas......

I don't think you're totally off base, but making people wear seatbelts protects your wallet too. Think about all the people out there with no insurance: when they get into a wreck and don't die, who do you think pays to stuff all their organs back in and pay their hospital bills for months and months? We all get stuck with that bill in the long run.
