Then you are probably as amazed by the hypocrisy of a seatbelt law as I am here in KY.....

We repealed the helmet law and 6 months later put a seat belt law in place.

Again -- no problem with the ticket if that's what the law is. In fact, both my wife and I routinely buckle-up when we drive -- she just had a "mind fart" that day. The only issue I have is that the fine makes it more of a "money grab" than anything else. I think a fine in the $50.00 range would be more in-line with severity of the offense.

Yep.

They look at it like, "if we're going to loose money cause we can't give ticket to those not wearing a helmet, we've gotta come up with something else. What about seatbelts?"

I have a friend that laid his bike down one night, and he actually got a ticket for no seat belt.

He still has the ticket...framed.

You're required to wear a helmet unless you have enough insurance coverage.

Really, wearing a seatbelt in a big truck is not as big a deal as in a four-wheeler. If you get into an accident in an 80,000 lb. truck, you're probably not going to be flying around the cab, if you feel it at all. With the obvious exceptions.
I've personally seen two cases where a seatbelt saved a truck driver's life. My company requires me to wear one whether the law does or not. I believe seatbelts should be worn in any type of vehicle.

Oh, and most of the cops in the state of Texas are ******.

I've met ONE (1) "human cop", the rest were from planet A-hole.
I can't believe this, I had to sit and listen to this guy screaming about a mad man with an F150 in a Rudy's parking lot, I do nothing, and this is the thanks I get?

Or if you have taken a motorcycle safety class.

GA law exempts pick-up trucks from the seatbelt law, but they're trying to change that.

Gear Jammer: I agree with you, I wear my seatbelt every time I'm in any vehicle. My point was that the vast majority of accidents involving a big truck aren't even going to vibrate the cab. You've seen seatbelts save two peoples lives, but I bet you've seen 8000 where it didn't make a lick of difference. That was why I said "with the obvious exceptions."

But basically, we agree. It's just a little harder to make the point to the driver of an 18-wheeler when motorcylists are the biggest danger to themselves on the road.

We have never met. I bet if we did, I would then be able to say,

That post was nothing personal of course.
