Speaking of mailboxes..

Does anyone (Preferably someone in the DFW area) know of anyone I can call to have a mailbox built?

I like the "bricked" in mailboxes, and althogh I did have some masonry skills, there's a big differenece in building short walls, and mailboxes.

This is what I have in mind:

My dad built our mailbox at home. He has little to no masonry skills that I know of. It's got a flat top with stone on the top...turned out pretty cool looking. Took him about a day or two to make.

i aint trying to spoil your mailbox or anything but one time someone that works for the dps told me that if anyone ever hits it and damages their car or themselves they can sue you because they arent exactly legal, i dont know if its true or not because i see them all over the place but thats what i was told.

Yeah, from what I hear, they can only have a concrete base, to pass inspection by the city. If the box is full concrete, and someone wrecks and hurts/kills themself, if the concrete extends above the base, I could be held liable. Never mind the SOB left the road...

Where they get you is (And most people don't realize this), your properly starts on your side of the sidewalk. The sidewalk, and the grass between the sidewalk and the curb, although the homeowner's responsibility for maintenance, is city property.

Now, what I really want to do is have some 10" (diameter) 10 foot tube dug 4-6 feet into the ground, filled with concrete, and placed strategically behind my shrubs- to stop these dumbasses who manage to leave the road and drive into people's homes. Those poles should stop or deflect anything less than an F-350, on contact.

A kid in Plano a year or two ago, got his skull cracked when some dumb-*** kid, joyriding and running from teh cops, skipped the curb, and ran into his bedroom. Fortunately, last I heard, the boy was expected to make a full recovery. I'd rather the dumbass (driver) be killed rather than risk injury to my family, inside the home. Same thing happened in Arlington on Friday. A 16 year old, in an Explorer, went off road, through the fence, and about 12-feet into this mans kitchen. No one got hurt... which is cool too, but- not always the case.

Fortunately, it happened at 3:00 PM, and no one was home...

You should stick with the brick. I wish I had one. Look what some a-hole did to mine last year...

A brick box would have totaled that car!

yeah but then they could of sew you because the grass partfrom the sidewalk to the street belongs to the subdivison or city and they dont allow those in many areas

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Dude, don't hope to wreck that car, that's classic muscle in the making. Well compared to 1990's standards.
