Well I sure hope that so called sad excuse of a truck falls flat on its face with tons of recalls and safety issues, and the whole thing becomes a big flop for toyota. I still wonder how that truck can tow 10k pounds and the frame isn't completely boxed in.

Muddoag;

Back to your original question....

Most states now sell their DOT ownership lists and lists of licensed drivers to anyone that will shell out the bucks. That is most likely how they got your information. Many companies use them to direct advertising and to classify you for insurance risks and the like. If you were to do some digging I would bet that the customer number that they have assigned you is based on where you live (zip code)and the type of vehicle that you have registered, in this case the ford.

Just an fyi

What about the Impala? Charger?

I could keep naming off cars but most of them are used but the Crown Vic is clearly the choice vehicle.

got the same paperwork here- but the dealer I got my truck from is also a toyota dealer- Bitterroot Ford & toyota... I went down there for the free bbq, took a look at the tundra and then went straight over to the 6.4L F-250's

as for the cops- psh, I haven't seen a crown vic cop in about 5 yrs... local cops drive a 03 chevy blazer z71, 03 F-150 supercab, and an 04 F-350 6.0L supercrew- from May to August there's a blacked out charger that takes out all the exotics who rip thru on their way to glacier nat. park...

PDs around are starting to use the Challenger but its so new that its not proven itself yet.

As for the Impala it is a front wheel drive, mid-size car and the V8 is only offered in the SS. At any rate when GM still made the Caprice it was just as used just as much as the Crown Vic was.

Besides the Chrysler 500/Dodge Magnum (the same cars as the Challanger with just different body panels), the Mercury Grand Marquis (same car as the Crown Vic...again just different body panels) and the Lincoln Town Car (cant see PDs riding around in Lincolns) name some more V8 powered fullsize 4-door cars on the market....

you keep sticking on your point about a 4 door sedan with a V8, and again I can't for the life of me figure out why law enforcement HAS to have a V8 engine configuration in a squad car? Are they towing something I don't know about?

Hmmmm....most people that have Mustang GTs and Corvettes don't tow anything with them. On the same side most PDs want a relatively "fast" car to be able to do rapid responses to crime/accidents and in pursuits. Thats why all Crown Vic police cars come with 17in tires and wheels as well. I am not the one that came up with the rule, but most PDs want and use V8 powered cars.

Haven't you ever seen the Blues Brothers...

Jake: Car's got a lot of pickup.
Elwood: It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

BTW that police car was a 1974 Dodge Monaco.

Crown Vic 1/4 mile is mid to high 16s stock. I'm positive that there are V6 sedans who can match/beat that. You don't need a v8 to go fast.

Here in Illinois some of the PD's are using Chargers and Impalas there are a few old Crown Vics rolling around.

Police Dep'ts like the Vic because it's big (4-dr). There is a lot of equipment in those cars that is tough to fit into smaller sedans. The Impala works, but is tight compared to the vic.
Two, when you have such a big car with all the extra weight you need a V-8.
The top end in a C Vic is much better than a Impala. The impala is very agile in a city / town only driving but on a Interstate it sucks ***.

OOOOO I got banned from FTE by saying my mitsubishi ranger transmission was jap crap.... Hope there more understanding here... especially since my wife is filipino...(real cute too) I am hardly a racist!!

The japanese are being very sneaky here. They don't pay any tariffs on cars they build here... try to sound like they are an American company...don't have to pay shipping from overseas... use the "we employ American workers" line.... but the profits still go back to japan and support there economy. All the while they won't let our companies in the there country to employ there workers. It is not at all fair and that is the biggest problem I have with it. I really liked the logic someone posted how now that they are built here in America... they can't say they hire better American workers!! LOL. I have always wanted to get a bunch of small magnets shaped like a U and go around to the yota trucks that have the TRD stickers and make it say TURD.

I don't care where they build it..it's propaganda to try and claim it is "American" too.

I just love how all these anti-American Toyota lovers have always talked crap about American cars saying they build quality is so poor and they make better cars in Japan, but the second they start making Toyotas in America build quality from American labor is no longer an issue?

haha, make up your minds. It's not like Toyota hires "better Americans" than Ford or GM do.

All you Toyota lovers sit here and tell ANYONE on the forums who claims pride in their Fords that they have blind loyalty, and yet ANY time anyone points out any truth about a flaw in a toyota it is all a lie and Toyota is perfect and you all refuse to admit anything wrong with them.

Whatever, buy whatever you want. I'll keep driving my Ford and loving it more and more everyday regardless of what you decide to do with your money. No lost sleep here!
The build quality is better because the management desires a long lasting quality product, not the crap detroit does by low bidding a great product to death so they can pad their bonuses and pocket books with the expense of shipping thousands of jobs overseas and then calling it an American product. Face it Corporate america is selling us out and they use every excuse in the book to do so as long as they get theirs, and heck with the American worker. Where do you think most of detroits comonents are made, not here, either in Mexico, Canada, China, or tim buk fu.....Very little of The American product is actually produced here, we just put them together to appease the workers until they can make the big move....to China which will probably be doing all of the work in 20 years. We will be lucky to have even our military stuff made here. Heck the uniforms are made in China now. Probably putting putting crap in them so they can be detected by the new super power in 30 years with 1.8 billion people that are looking for any jobs that they can cut a deal for with our companies. Thank you corporate America, you s o b s....

Fantastic mess of run-on sentences and interesting conspiracy theories... but your "facts" are wrong. When you buy a Ford you can look at the sticker in the window that has an EXACT break-down on part content and origin. I believe Ford vehicles have an 85% or higher American made content make-up- anyone able to confirm that?

At any rate, it is far from "mostly" not made in America. You do not know what you are talking about.

As for this supposed corporate plan by "detroit" to "trick us" with their inferior products is retarded. You have absolutely NO substance behind your claims whatsoever. Talk about blind loyalty...

To the OP...
The registration data for all vehicles in the US is gathered by RL Polk & Co., and is sold to companies for marketing, etc.
http://usa.polk.com/Company/WhoWeAre/

Standard data-mining stuff.
Polk specialized in auto data.

You'd be surprised how much info companies have about everyone.
For example, everytime you visit a website or use a credit card, that data is tracked and compiled...then eventually sold, on an aggregate level, to marketers.

If you go to, say, Ford.com, they know what sites you came from, and what sites you went to next.
