I've always wanted one of those but for probably the wrong reason.
I'd take the Minnesota sheriff license plate I found in the ditch one time and slap it on the front. That's why my wife won't let me buy a Crown Vic.

I wanted one, I was THIS close to getting a Crown Vic LX Sport last year, but wifey developed a case of amnesia. I had traded my Expedition and got a new one because SHE wanted the expy with the power folding seats, etc...

I got it. the deal was, we'd trade her truck (the 20012 SuperCrew) to get what I wanted. Deal was, I kept paying the Expy note, she kept paying the F-150 note, or the note on what I'd be driving.

She vetoed every vehicle I wanted to trade her truck in on, for me:

Magnum: Looks like a hearse
300 SRT-8: Too many people have them
Crown Vic: Old-person's car.
MDX: Too small

So, since she devloped amnesia, and didn't stick to the deal, I traded the Expy and got what I wanted. But, if David McDavid was still selling Marauders, I'd have had that instead of the MDX. Black on black. Love 'em, I have a picture up of one in my cubicle RIGHT NOW.

I'm still pissed I let myself miss that 1996 Chevy Impala SS and got a 1997 Maxima instead... Little did I know I had the potential to own a classic, even if it woudl be my daily driver...

Damn, thats one Chev I really like. One of the maintenance guys owns one, sounds and looks mean. If I had a chance to get one Id be kicking myself for passing on it too.

They're nice, but they're a POS. We've got a 95 Roadmaster Estate Wagon with 50K miles. It's the station wagon version of the SS, only doesn't look as cool. Only has 50K on it, yet has needed the most work.

The Marauder is a joke. My wife's 2.0T GTI will slaughter one with ease. Save your money.

KC-10 FE out...

If you want a fast vehicle that has room for passengers, get a Trailblazer SS. I have a Black 2006 AWD. It is definately the fastest vehicle I have owned. It has a 400HP Corvette (LS2) motor in it, and does 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds. I've had mine for a little over a year now, and it has 30K on it already. It is a good vehicle.

I did keep my 97 F150 though, there's nothing wrong with it, and it is paid for.....

No, they're not stallions, some magazine said the 300 HP they claim, must be Shetland Ponies. Even with 260 HP in the 5.4L, Ford effed up by not putting the 5.4L in it, something that heavy needs torque to get it moving. The Impala SS of a decade plus ago, had the 275 HP 5.7L, but it also had 350 lb/ft of torque, as opposed to the Marauder's 290 lb/ft. But- who gives a schyt?

It still looks menacing when that joker comes up in your rear view. While you won't win many races in it, that's no different from our trucks. Right? I mean, we're already used to losing street races.

I'd just be cruising in that bad boy... But, for 37K (What they wre costing new) I'd take a 4.6L 239 HP Crown Vic LX sport, get the floor shifter, the spoiler, then go put a K&N filter-charger on it, then add my own exhaust kit (Borla) with the 18" chrome tips, tint the windows (limo), add some sweet 18" 5-spoke chromies with some 275/40/18's and call it a day.

You might be 61 HP short (or less with the exhaust and intake), but at least you'd have a factory warranty.

In their last days, you could buy a new Marauder for $23-25Kish. Dealers were trying to get rid of 'em like the plague.

The Florida Highway Patrol has several of them. In Jacksonville, we have a maroon one and a silver one. I have heard that the police version of the Marauder has over 500hp but not sure how true that is. These 2 in Jacksonville are so unmarked, that unless you happen to be able to see through their very dark windows and see the light bar in the windshield, you wouldn't even know it was a state trooper.

I was driving on the interstate in town approaching a constuction zone about a year or so ago and the maroon one was in the right lane of a 4 lane road.
Well this young girl came flying by in the the far left lane doing at least 85 in a 65. He was doing right at 65 and within about 20 seconds he had caught up to the car that was doing over 20 mph faster than he was. He rode about 5 ft from her until the passed the speeding fines doubled sign and then he turned his lights on.

Stock, the Marauder isn't amazing...but they are very responsive to mods. Being a 4v...it does damn well with some boost

I just found an article about our FHP versions

"Basically, they took the motor out of a Cobra Mustang and stuck it in a Mercury Grand Marquis," said Dennis Reinhart, whose automotive shop in Orange Park added a "high-speed metal matrix drive shaft" to increase the car's top speed from 128 mph to more than 140 mph.
I don't think you will find a street version of this car as powerful as this car is.

I found this article on the following website and just searched the articles until I found this statement. I can't create a link directly to the article

I have a friend that goes to Fast Ford's weekend in Ennis, TX, and he said they had Marauders down there running 11's in the 1/4 mile...

They may not have the top end those FHP cars have, but out the hole, I'd bet they'd be far quicker, 0 - 60, and 1/4 mile, where it matters most...

Many of us don't live in a place where 120 is feasible, let alone 140. Most of our rides take too long to get there, and there's not a long enough, straight enough road, void of traffic (The only reasonable way to attempt this).
