I know Gore's history all too well. We have an "election" which gives us the choice between scions of the privileged class, neither of whom is fit to be President of the United States.

But at least Gore's in possession of a three-digit IQ, and has made a stand on some important issues, whether you agree with them or not.

Bush is a vacuous party-boy with no strength of conviction, or intellectual prowess. The only thing he has going for him is being owned by the Republican party.

BTW, this will be the first time I have voted Democratic since 1976. This election is ludicrous, and a sham. I just hope the Republicans retain control of the Congress.

Lightning,

Neither Tennessee nor Texas are hotbeds of political thought.

Maybe they're hoping he'll help repeal the .08 blood alcohol limit, so weekends will be fun again.

The Clinton/Gore record is miserable. Name one thing they did to give us our booming economy?

They have under-funded and over-extended our military to the point they have major problems with recruitment, retention of personnel, lack of spare parts, lack of training, poor moral, badly aging weapons systems, etc.

And, how about building a forward based, national missile defense system that Bush will do. Gore will not.

Their energy policy is a joke. They will not extend many off-shore oil leases, or allow new ones. This is considering that we may be totally petroleum self-sufficient instead of being dangerously dependent on foreign oil. For example, it is estimated there may 40 billion barrels of oil off our southern coast.

Bush and Cheney will fix that. Cheney is the real can-do guy here. And, if you royally screw-up national defense or energy supplies, we are in the deep, deep stuff big-time.

Some personal items. Gore was a reporter in Vietnam for a less than half a normal tour of duty. He then went to divinity school and flunked. He went to law school and dropped out. He changes positions 100 % depending on which office he was running for. Abortion and gun rights are two examples. Gore is a professional, lifetime politican and Washington insider and elitist.

Now Bush graduated from a ivy league college and got a masters degree from the Harvard Business school. He was fighter pilot in the Guard. He ran his own businesses, but in a tough area (oil wild-catting).

He also is the first Republican Governor to be re-elected in a predominantly Demomcratic state of Texas.

This thread has good examples of why this race is close. People spewing out a bunch of generalized, simplified, sensationalized and dumbed-down garbage that the media has been spoon-feeding to the masses for the entire year. People who have no ability or acumen to see through the rhetoric and spin. The media plays the T.V. numbed masses like a fiddle, and then sends 'em off to the polls muttering the punchlines like a bunch of lobotomized zombies. No, neither candidate is a perfect hero, there is no such thing, just honest people and hypocrites, of which I believe there is one of each in this election. And through all the hype and B.S., I can throw out one fact, one thing that was definately said, one thing we all heard with our own ears, that should scare the living daylights out of anyone who believes in our founding fathers. Al Gore called the Constitution of the United States a "living, breathing document". That blew me out of my seat when I heard it. I suppose if I had spent 30 years of my life in Washington, I would be twisted and lost too. Another observation. People who demonize others simply by virtue of the other's family "wealth", obviously have no interest in knowing the truth about anyone. Money has no direct relationship with integrity. If you won the lottery tomorrow, remember that if you ever became wealthy by virtue of your own sweat and intelligence, that some idiot would be foul-mouthing your accomplishment. For whatever reason, success has become evil in this country. And I've got news for you, if you're a Lightning owner, you're a rich a$$hole to half the people you drive past on the street.

If not now when? that is how I look at it, we have to start thinking of another way to supplement our fuel needs. Do you think if Gore is elected the first day he is going to outlaw all gasoline engines not likely. The difference between Gore and Bush is Bush is for now with plans to forget about the enviroment we will fix it later, oil lets destroy whats left of out natural resources so we can save a few cents at the pump, tax cuts sure lets give more money back to the people and at the same time increase spending in the military I would like to see how he is going to pay for it probably with fuzzy math. Sure the rich pay the most taxes but should'nt the ones that benefit most from America pay the most. He has not laid out any plans other than "I can do it I have done it in Texas". To me Gore seems like the right choice for right now.

I'm going to vote for GORE because I want all the low life, good for nothing cheats to have as much as I do.

Oh, wait. That election allready happened.

Yea, well GORE is going to save our planet from global warming. I think all he needs to do is get a democrat in the white house. Then he can save the the planet from global warming and give all the low life cheats the same things that I, and all the hard working people like me, have.

Fair?

Canada has a conservative in office. Let's take a look at what ends up happening with the Mexican elections. Do we want to be the liberal filling in a conservative sandwitch? I know I don't.

There must be a reason for the trend. Right?

Such a childish and just plain goofy statement, from a liberal I would guess…

Why not mentioned how over 3,000 innocent Americans were slaughtered by terrorist. My how that slips the minds of wackos but then again some of you truly believe terrorist are freedom fighters and that Bush is the most evil person in the world.

Thank God we didn’t have so many gutless Americans during WWII or we would have been screwed…
