My last room mate in college, that is what his mom does for a living. of course she has to work at it pretty hard though from what it sounded like. she would go to goodwill and find things and put them up. one time i watched my room mate put a shirt up that he bought for $ .75 and then it sold for $125. if my math was correct he made $119.25 because i made him pay me 5 bucks for driving him to Goodwill...lol

That might be a pretty good way to go. and the plus of selling on ebay like that you dont have to have any type of retail license...

You shouldn't have to claim anything unless you start making a fairly considerable amount from it. but i dont think you will make enough off ebay to equal your current work...I will ask my room mate tomorrow about that though just to see what he does

I used to do it for living. You can make a lot of money, i sold electronics, such as mp3 players, memory cards, bluetooth headsets, etc.. But my primary job comes first, its my paycheck.
there are several wholesellers, you can search them. First decide what you want to sell, then look at them on ebay how much they are selling it. If its profitable, buy minumum quantity possible (most wholeseller have minumum buy in requirements), if you make money you might increase your volume.
good luck

Wife did the ebay thing for awhile until we dropped high-speed internet. She would mainly hit up garage sales around town and put those items up on ebay. Made a fairly decent amount of money, especially for slightly used baby clothes. She only did one wholesale item and that was necklaces, she did make money on that to; just not as much as the garage sale items.

I would venture to say the more work you put into it, the more money you are going to make. It takes a fair amount of time to acquire inventory and go through the process of listing them as well.

We never claimed any income taxes on it.

My mother makes some decent spending money.

She first emptied out the "junk" that she no longer wanted, but it was nice stuff.

Now she picks up end of season stuff and holds it until the next season and sells less than the stores but a lot more than she bought it for.

She also watches closeout specials in stores.

Legally you have to claim it as income....legally.

That my friend is a LOT of work. Just being a casual seller, my wife pulled in maybe $150/month
