Computer speakers

I'm wanting some new computer speakers. Any suggestions? Right now I've got a Creative 5.1 Surround (hardly) system. It's ok, but I'm looking for more power and bass. Not looking to break the bank either. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be surround either...

Upgrade your sound card and buy a stereo receiver.

I've listened to a Logitech system (not 5.1 surround) and it sounded pretty good. Several of my friends have recommended Logitech.

Im using some 10 year old computer speakers, like 20w or something, and ive got my 250w (panasonic) stereo hooked up to it, so when needed run from 2.0 to 4.0 sounds pretty good and gets pretty loud.

EDIT they are "Altec Lansing Multimedia computer speakers ACS5"

Just hook it up to an actual stereo system.

Exactly.

If your going for some good solid sound, that's the way to do it.

I have my 10+ year old altec lansing, 2.1. Paid $20 at sams for them. This computer does have 5.1 sorround card so thought about upgrading but just havewnt yet...... Video games rattle the pictures on both walls of the corner my desk is in. The sub is small so not great for reverberating explosions, but makes a good solid short hit. They do well with most music too. I have teh sub in the floor at my feet and no one sees it. Always surprises everyone when they hear it.

I dont have mine hooked up ot the entertainment system, wouldn;t be hard to do, I just have no need for anymore wattage. Wife and kids ussually complain about it as it is.

No room for a full sized stereo and receiver here, I'm in a 10x14 box... and my roommate has a Logitech 2.1 system. It pumps out some NICE bass. Hmmm.. Any other suggestions? How about places to buy? I don't even want to try and have the nicest system in my house. There's a guy here who has four 15" speakers, and about 1500 watts running to them, all in his 10x14 room. He wants to buy a sub....

I am using Altec Lansing as well. I like it a lot. I am rocking the house with it.

I may get these.....

Creative labs has been the leader in PC audio cards for numerous years.......
My last 4 cards have all been a version of the Sound Blaster series.
Surely matching componets could do nothing but enhance the other.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a pair of Bose Companion 2 speakers at Best Buy. Hundred bucks for the pair and they sound REAL nice. Very happy with my purchase.

I've got the Logitech Z2200... it's a 2.1 system with a powered 10" subwoofer... It's being fed from a Soundblaster Audigy sound card... between the two of them, it's got some KILLER bass and crystal cleat trebel. For its size, I've yet to hear better sounding speakers hooked up to a PC.
