I've been using some $50 Altec Lansing XA3021 speakers for 4 or 5 years and they still sounds great. They were made for the xbox but who cares.

My roommates got the z2300...it's NICE! But for a little more, I decided to go with double the power and surround sound...

I may have gone overboard with mine, but I got a full-on 5.1 Klipsch Audio set for my desktop. Best in the biz. Sound tremendous.

There's a guy here in my house who has that. They sound sweeeeet, but I can't justify the $400 price tag. Hell, the $200 I just spent was damn near crazy. But, its for my birthday, so, it's all good...

these are okay, one roomate has these, they are good until you crank them really loud for the first time, then turn it down low and they start clipping really bad.

and my other roomate, had the package level right under it and his did the same thing, and his poped when you got them 2/3 volume or higher.

but hopefully youre lucky and got a good set

Something has got to be wrong with those then. My roommate has the Z2300, and they sound sweet at high volume. Our resident audio guy (the 7' tall guy with the 4 15" speakers, 1600 watt amp, etc) said he almost bought this set but found a deal on the Klipsch speakers instead.

I got the speakers yesterday afternoon, and WOW! These things ROCK!!!! The bass out of the sub does get kind of boomy at times as said in the review if you have the sub turned up too much. But, if the house isn't rattling something, then it's not up enough.
