How much for rent?
How much for rent?
Watching TV, Im amazed at how much rent for a small apartment is in some cities/states. I understand that more income = higher rent usually.
Not including house payments... only people that rent apartments or houses, how much is your rent every month.
What state?
How big?
Me:
Western Kentucky
$435/month
2 bedroom, 1 bath. Included furnished kitchen and laundry.

Our first year in KC, while deciding where to live before buying a house, we rented a 3 bedroom, two bath split-level duplex for $850, no utilities included and included only the oven in the kitchen. This was two years ago.
Prior to this in college it was $500 for a two bedroom single bath apartment in Manhattan, KS. All major appliances.

3 bd / 1 ba (about 12-1300 sq ft?) front house of a duplex (read: share a garage and no backyard) in the ghetto part of torrance, CA - $1400 (and that's cheap... considering the place is worth $800K+)

UC, you should NEVER use "rent" and "investment" in the same sentence.
by the way, to add to this thread, I have nothing to say, seeing as how I don't rent.
at university of kentucky, a 1 br close to campus was about 500-600/mo + util.
at montana state, bozeman, a 1 br close to campus is around 400-600 + util. if you want the room in a 120yr old house, or the new apt complexes

The range around here for two bedroom is about 750-1500.
Less than $750 and you'll be too scared to sleep at night.
Haven't seen anything around for more than $1500.
Rent isn't laways a bad deal.
An apartment in NH rents for $600 a month.
Landlord fixes everything.
Or you can buy a $300k home, make the payments/build the equity.
but the taxes are $7,200 a year (that's $600 a month you don't recoup)
and you fix everything.

I certainly plan on buying a house. My truck wil be paid off soon, and I'll be done with school soon too.
Then I'll buy a POS house to fix up and be set for a couple years. I make pretty decent money at my job now, but I don't want to get locked into a house right now.
Hopefully by this time nest year, I'll be moving into a house.

We're renting a 1,500 sq. ft. condo with full basement and 2 car garage on a little lake for $1250/month. I was transferred (against my will) because of my job and it took me 1.5 years to sell my house that I had just built and I lost thousands on it.
For anyone that doesn't know, the economy in MI is HORRIBLE because of the auto industry and houses on average are taking about a year to sell...and the sellers are losing a ton of $ on them as I did.
I'm looking to transfer to a different area as soon as I can, and I don't want to be sitting on a house for over a year just to lose my *** on it again. That's why I'm renting, so I can just pack up and leave when I get a chance.

I guess the perks of living in a small populated and underpaid state really show.
