In the Metro Atlanta area (NE outside 285) I pay $1000. for a 3/2 ranch house on less than 1/2 acre w/2 car garage. Will be moving in the next few months to rent a trailer a tad further north for less than 700 a month for a 3ish/2ish no garage...till we can get the cars paid off and decide where we want to live.

It sucks here, taxes are very high also. The only place worse then here is Cali. Im in a decent house that we bought new but you have to kill yourself to keep it. The American dream cost a lot of money on Long Island. lol

[QUOTE=CrAz3D]agreed, however in college...its sometimes necessary.
[QUOTE]

I could easily argue that. I went to college and never rented.

I'm a homeowner now; well, again, well, still...

Anyhoo, my first 3 years in Dallas I lived in various apartments. The cheapest was $590/month, on Ohio Dr. in Plano, TX. 1 bedroom, 1 bath, with fridge, stove, oven, and hook-ups for your own washer & dryer (But they provided a laundry room if you didn't have your own). There was a catch to this though, you could not live there if your salary was more than $64,000/year. Both our salaries combined didn't make that amount in 1997. But, when it comes to quality of life, living in Plano beats the snot out of most places in Dallas, and out of anyplace in Dallas you could live at that price.

The most expensive was $885.00/month- off Rosemeade Parkway in Dallas TX, near the tollway. 2 BR, 2 bath, about 990 square feet.

Some of the nicest apartments in Plano/North Dallas (At the time- and this was 7 years ago) were $1,200 - $1,500/month for a nice 2 or 3 bedroom.

Anything less, or cheaper and you'll be down off Skillman/Forest (But, at least still in North Dallas) in a mega-complex (300 - 400 units) and swatting roaches everynight, when you aren't wondering if your car will be there in the morning...

Same in Winnipeg, anything decent is gonna run between $700-$1000. A nice apartment is over $1000. You can rent apartments and houses for less but your gonna wake up every morning wondering if your gonna be filing a police report and taking the bus. Plus when you get home its a crapshoot if your door is still on its hinges.

A ghetto *** sh$t box 1 bed 1 bath 500sq/ft goes for $450-$650/month in Burlington County NJ. I know of a couple of people that pay rent over $1800/month. That equates to over a $200K mortgage. NJ freaking BLOWS.

KC-10 FE out...

1500 sq ft two story
3bdrm 2.5 bath

$1095 per month

Have to rent until me and him move out of Vegas... Or else we would have bought... Its a waste to rent in my opinion, but you gotta do what you gotta do...

It can happen, but means lots of time living at home saving a big downpayment.
