weekend scam

The house is up for sale next door. So on Friday evening the door bell rings and there is some guy saying his brother just bought the house and they ran out of diesel for the moving truck on the way to the new place. He wants to borrow fifteen bucks untill tomorrow and also wants to know where the nearest gas station that sells diesel is.
I look at the realtors sign next door and it now has the open house add on it for this Saturday. Told him I could not help him. Freaking scaming junky.

Silver, had I known it was you I would have never tried that scam on you. But, good job on catching me, but I do have to say your other neighbor was not as smart as you. I got $20 out of them....

I actually had a garbage neighbor who tried the following:

She sent her kids over to my house.

"Hello, the electric company cut off our gas and electric, and it is dark in the house, can we run an extension cord from your house to ours so we can plug in some stuff."

"Uh no."

Who would ask that!?

Losing power due to a storm or such is one thing.

Heck I helped my neighbor splice together phone cables and tie it into their house when a tree fell and cut their line.

I've run extension cords for those situations and even helped hook a generator up for them.

But not when they just fail to pay the bill.

I've been running a power cord from the neighbor's house for about a year. I must have it hidden pretty well, they dont have a clue.
