heres a scam to get a couple of bucks.

I write on a $20 "happy birthday Vader, from grandma rosey"
i then go in to a store and spend it.

standing behind me in line is vader, buying something cheap with a $5 or $10. when he gets his change, he says to the cashier, "i gave you a $20". it was a birthday gift from my grandma.

they should now give you change for a $20.

Before Christmas, a local news station ran a story of a scam that was going on with gift cards. Basically what they were doing was going into a store that sold preloaded gift cards for other stores, and the thieves would write down the card numbers from the back of the high dollar cards and then walk away. Days later they would call the stores on the cards to check their balance, and when they got a hit, they would go online and spend that gift card up to it's limit and get free stuff. Now, when the person who actually bought that card for Lowes or Best Buy or whatever gives it to someone for X-Mas, they look like a fool when the reciepient tries to use it and that $500 gift card has 39 cents left on it.
