Gun Gurus!

I have a Ruger MINI 14 the blued Ranch addition with a 20rd mag. I’m thinkin’ about moddin’ it with maybe a folding stock, high powered scope. Not sure if I wanna go tactical or the sniper look.. At work, I get to fire a fully auto 50 caliber machine gun as well as a full auto M-16 .223 cal. & a Browning 50 cal. sniper rifle, to test our ammo. What a blast, the look of the API & APIT rounds from the big 50 is cool, and the noise it makes is CRAZY! The perfect stress remover It’s addictive for sure, so what yall think, Tactical or Sniper? I know a simi auto isn't an ideal sniper tool, but I do like the simple blacked out look with a scope.

It's kind of personal prefrence.
I'd go tactical myself, a sniper rifle that can only snipe for 500 yards with no wind, may not be the best sniper rifle.

A Mini 14 is neither "tactical" nor "sniper." About minute-of-barn-door accurate. There's some company out in California that rebuilds them into something decent, they put a big fat barrel on 'em and bed 'em, Google "Accuracy Systems" (I think...)

True, then I could go with the folding stock 30rd clip & the full auto conversion

Could be good, could be bad.

I saw an ad in the newspaper once and didn't quite know how to take it.
It read...

Man wanted to work in dynomite factory
Must be willing to travel

I would have to agree with Quintin a mini 14 does not fit either of those styles. Below is a picture of me with some of my toys and witha mustache. Its an old picture.

Basically, Barrett Firearms Mfg. Inc. has chambered the Model 99 .50-caliber rifle for the new .416 Barrett round. According to the company, the .416 shoots flatter, faster and hits harder than anything available. Barrett expects to chamber its other .50-caliber models for the .416 by the end of 2006.

The .416 Barrett cartridge has an overall length of 4.58 inches and a ballistic coefficient of .943. The projectile is a solid brass boattail spitzer that weighs 400 grains and is 2 inches in length. The case has a capacity for 200 grains of powder.

The Barrett Model 99 chambered for the .416 Barrett is available in 45- or 50-inch overall length, depending on barrel length, and weighs 23 or 25 pounds, unloaded.

The new gun carries a suggested retail of $3,675 and is distributed by RSR Wholesale.

You can get more information by contacting Barrett Firearms (PO Box 1077, Dept. GWK, Murfreesboro, TN 37133; phone: 615-896-2938) or by logging onto their website: www.barrettrifles.com.

You will also find extensive technical data on the website.

Not anymore The Clinton ban expired.

BTW, FX4... the .223 is an A2 3rd burst right?, not full auto?, and do you mean Browning .50 cal machine gun (M2) and Barrett .50 "anti-equipment" sniper rifle (M82)?

Talon--they make some sweet ammo...

And I'd go tactical semi auto. As I have worked with a few SWAT operatives, they prefer semi (duh), and tactical just looks cooler unless you have a REAL sniper. but the mimi-14 is definately a fun toy... When are you going to "loose" a full auto 50 cal and let all of us play with it??? I'm sure Talon Ammo Corp. won't mind...

Magazine, not clip, and it depends. Since the '94 Assault Weapons Ban dissolved in 2004, new manufacture high capacity magazines were made legal for us common serfs to own.

But, some states (like Kalifornia and I think New Jersey along with a few others) have their own proprietary assault weapons ban that forbids things like flash suppressors, bayonet lugs, and high...standard capacity magazines.

Give us some specs on the weapons you are using.
I shot the M2 when i was in the Army and was lucky the shoot over 3K rounds in 2 hour while at NTC. talk about fun. I'm guessing the M16 is a A1?

Anyway, sounds like a fun job.

PS.
if you have any extra ammo to get rid of or even sell, I'll be more than happy to drive down and get some.
