The race card!

OKay guys and gals, I need to vent!
So, I am "the guy in charge" at my work. I run a very open door policy with my guys, anyone can talk to me at any time about any problems. I consider all my guys to be good people and good workers. Well today, I had one guy (who I previously got along with great) fly off the handle and tell me this morning he didn't want to do the work I assigned him. Being an overtime day, I could have told him to go home then. However, I let him do other work so he could still make some money. At our afternoon muster, I attempted to find out what the problem was. He flew off the handle saying he's going to fck me up, and he's going to write me up for discrimination. He claims I give the good work to the other guys. Now, he can't weld, he can't fabricate, he has limited skills. I have other guys who are great at that stuff. They also happen to be African Americans. How on earth can I discriminate against him, if number one, he can't do the other jobs, even though I often give him training on fab work, and number two, the guys who I do give that work to, are also similar race????? In lue of talant work, I have him painting, and doing labor work and inventory work. Certainly not DIRTY work. Infact, when the sewage system went down, I was the one that did the dirty work. I was the one covered in poo. No other guy in my position would have done that himself! To make a long story short, I am in a gov job with a racial discrimination charge heading my way. I'm so fcked you can't imagine! I can kiss my next promotion good bye. I'm so friggin sick of people pulling the race card, just because they can.

Sounds like your a stand up guy who has done things in a fair manner. I hope they HR rep will realize this when this ***** hits the fan. Do you have a report filed against the employee for a physical threat? Sounds like this guy should be kicked to the curb. The type who specalizes in nothing but complaining and causing trouble. And I wont say much about the race card, other than..... We have so many people of different races who work their *** off to get ahead. They dont want a promotion they dont deserve, they dont want anything handed to them because of thier race. These are the people I respect so much, they have the oppertunity to use something like the race card to get ahead but want to do it with thier own merit. People like this guy in your story destroy everything they have worked so hard to accomplish.

How can you discriminate against him? Easy... Only WHITE MEN are racists. Didn't you know this? I thought this was common knowledge. EVERYONE else is simply exercising their civil rights.

The race card is just like the union card. Its a way for lesser skilled nimrods getting back at the "Man" for holding them back.

In the days of hacking up your lungs & dealing with methane explosions in the coal mines, unions were great. In this day & age, they do nothing but add extra cost to American built products.

In the days of lynchings and other nastiness, the race card was a valid arguement. Now it's simply a way for an un-educated ghetto thug to cry foul when asked to perform at the same standard as everyone else. Look at the recent shooting at the strip club in NYC. "RACISM!!!", they all screamed. Actually of the 4 cops who shot the black "victim", 3 were black & one was Latino. Um, excuse me... Where was the racism there Al Sharpton???

I don't care if you are:
black, white, yellow, red, brown, purple, orange, fuscia, green with pink stripes. If you're an un-educated ghetto *** thug, does it really matter what color/race you are? NOOOOOO... IT ONLY MATTERS THAT YOU'RE A FREAKING IDIOTIC MORON...

Thanks. Thats what got me so torqued. I always empisize to my guys that they can talk to me about anything they want with no reprecusions so long as its done fair, and profesional. I've told them, if they want to pull me aside, and say I'm an ahole, thats fine, so long as they have a reason why I'm an ahole. I've never ever written paper on someone, but that comes to an end today. I will write it on monday morning after talking to the higher ups. The bad part is, not only am I going to get hosed, he will most likely lose his job, and I know he had finacial issues. Thats exactly what I didn't want, thats why I tell people talk to me first if you have a problem. Sometimes you just can't help people.

No good deed goes unpunished. It's sad, I know; but, that's the way it seems to work out. I hope this doesn't affect your job the way you think it's going to.

HR issues are a mine field. I have seen employees lie and then seen the State take their side and then the company is forced to either settle with the employee or retain legal representation to fight the case which won’t be cheap.

One of the best things you can do is to fully document any issues. Get witness statements and remember that documentation may later be used in a case.

If this guy is a problem, and he threatened you, I would suspend him and pursue termination after consultation with your HR department.

He's already pulled the race card, if he fires him or punishes him in anyway, it will only add ammo to this guys case and back fire on Whip.

Documentaion and witness is the way to continue.
It may come down to charecter witnesses of fellow employees. However he has already had a day to get his co workers (Whips other workers) wound up spreading the hate, getting them to thinking whip (thier boss) is a a racist, cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, ****less, hopeless, heartless, fat-***, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey ****. Hallelujah. Holy ****. Where's the Tylenol?

But seriously someone can ruin a man in just a few hours, because hate spreads fast.
