Cool pics, I have a bunch of those, probably b/c im in the CG. At my last unit we had this boat that was jet drive, we could run in it 2 feet of water, sometimes shallower if we were up on a plane. My favorite boats were the Boston Whalers with the twin outboards on them. It was the perfect fishing boat, to bad we couldnt fish in it.

And this is why, I had a Honda in my shop just about every week last summer:

Fatboy, you guys are hard on them Hondas man Not sure how long you have been in but Im guessing at one time or another you've been to the Training Base in Jersey, Station Cape May. Thats like 10 minutes from me.

Habibi...those boats are pretty cool. I get to see those and numerous others all the time. Cool pictures. Sounds like you had great trip.

We've blown a few power-heads, lower units and too many prop hub's to keep count. I've seen them run continuously for a few weeks at a time (24/7), stopping only for gas, maintenance and crew changes. The Honda's are a pretty tough engine considering the abuse that’s dished out. Usually "full speed" or very long periods of idling is the norm. I gotta hand it to our engineers; they do a great job at keeping things running.

I've been to Cape May and Wildwood, never been back since I finished basic training 17 years ago. With the exception of a Polar Roller, I've done all my tours South of I-10.

The Steelhead is a great boat. You guys hooked us up during the Military out-loads at the HARFAC a few years ago. I was with one of the MSST Teams, Thanks for the coffee and snacks BTW
If you were onboard, we may have run across each other.

Yea, I remember the out loads. I probably was on there when u came aboard. We only moored up to the Harbor Fac for like a year, then went back to the station. I was on there the whole time. Those out loads where fun!!!

Congrats on the retirement, 24 years is a looooooong time.

Myself and a couple of other guys are actually in charge of maintaining the simulator for that boat. The SIM is located in Yorktown, and let me tell you, it's awesome to play with. As far as the real world ride, let me tell you it's something else. Put it this way, if you don't wear your seat belt you will be carried off of that thing once the ride is over. Those COXN's sure know how to handle those boats too! I think we have about 4 or 5 of them here that the TRACEN trains on.

I still think the RB-S and HS are slow with a top speed of 50 a bass boat will walk away from you. I work in DC with these boats. the best thing about the boats is the handling and if you don't hold on you will find yourself in the floor .

Thanks guys! 24 years is a looooooong time, it was a great experience and we got to see a lot of cool places but I'm kinda glad it's over. We bought our first house about a year and a half ago and are settling in like real people!! Chances are though, in about another year and a half, I'll be wondering why we aren't moving!
