The only snow day I could get is if I call in sick (dont get sick days so Id lose hours, plus the college never closes, even though half the profs wont show up ). I just climb in the truck and drive by the lines if I have to.

Around here people go ape sh** when they think of snow, this Thursday there is a chance of "measurable snow" and the news people are all over it, its the Top Story, and the snow that has yet to come, with all the media hype things start closing, schools have early dismissal in case it gets bad.

Sounds like Texas.

I'm not so much tired about the snow as I am tired of hearing complaints about it every weekend.

That I can understand...

Here's a pre-emptive complaint:

I'll be screwed if it snows I've buried my blower in the back of my shed.

I will buy a new snowblower next year... Right now, my snowblower is a 6'1" 225-lb son. Next year he will be in college and playing football: right now, though, slave labor is the way to go...

A friend of mine teaches down in Texas----came from Cleveland. He said that when they get a 1/4 inch of snow down there, everybody thinks it is Armagedon---he said everything shuts down (I think that is a hyperbole)---here in beautiful Cleveburg, 4-5 inches at a time can cause some problems---but in Eastern Pa. they measure the snow by the feet...

Nope, not a hyperbole....it's the truth.
Down here all the city offices shut down, the schools (colleges included), businesses.

The meals are the killer. He came home today from weightlifting after school and he ate four chicken patties (with buns, tomatoes, onion, and lettuce) and a salad. At dinner he then downed the vast majority of a pork roast, two baked potatoes, and about a half-dozen dinner rolls. He says he wants to gain about ten lbs. for the county all-star game in June. Shouldn't be a problem... Still, the cost of a good snowblower versus the cost of groceries, the snowblower is much, much cheaper.

If I were you, I would buy stock in Burger King before this weekend.

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO
10 AM EST SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO HAS ISSUED A LAKE EFFECT
SNOW ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY.

LAKE SNOWS WILL MOVE BACK SOUTH ACROSS THE AREA SATURDAY NIGHT SO
A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM SATURDAY TO 6 AM
EST MONDAY.

THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

A COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING. SOUTHWEST WINDS
AHEAD OF THE FRONT WILL RESULT IN LAKE EFFECT SNOWS DEVELOPING
ACROSS THE NIAGARA FRONTIER. THE SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL SHIFT TO
WESTERLY BEHIND THE FRONT AND PUSH THE LAKE SNOWS SOUTH ACROSS THE
AREA LATER THIS EVENING...CONTINUING OVERNIGHT. THE ACTIVITY
SHOULD WEAKEN AND LIFT NORTH SATURDAY MORNING AS WINDS BACK TO
SOUTHERLY AGAIN. TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 14 TO 36 INCHES ARE
POSSIBLE WHERE SNOWBANDS PERSIST...MOST LIKELY OVER THE CHAUTAUQUA
RIDGE AND SKI COUNTRY. STRONG WESTERLY WINDS WILL CREATE
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING...ESPECIALLY ON NORTH SOUTH
ROADS.

THE AREA WILL BE MAINLY SNOW FREE FOR MUCH OF THE DAY ON SATURDAY.
A SECOND COLD FRONT CROSSING THE REGION SATURDAY AFTERNOON WILL
REINFORCE THE COLD AIR OVER THE REGION AND THE RETURN WESTERLY
FLOW WILL AGAIN PRODUCE HEAVY LAKE SNOWS ACROSS THE REGION
SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF UP
TO FOUR FEET ADDITIONAL SNOW ARE POSSIBLE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH
SUNDAY NIGHT.

IN LAKE EFFECT SNOW THE WEATHER CAN VARY FROM LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW
IN NARROW BANDS TO CLEAR SKIES JUST A FEW MILES AWAY. IF YOU WILL
BE TRAVELING ACROSS THE REGION BE PREPARED FOR RAPID CHANGES IN
ROAD AND VISIBILITY CONDITIONS. STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO
AND OTHER RADIO AND TV STATIONS FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR UPDATES.
