Toyota shuts down in snow!
This is yesturday on Cunsumers website.
I laughed while reading it and then tried to imagine if this happened to a Ford.
I did not make this up.

It is kinda strange the "TUNDRA" has had huge problems and Toyota has had more recalls in 6 months than you can shake a stick at. Well I guess after they arrested the 4 executives in Japan for covering them up it appears they aren't any different.

Nice find!
Even if it makes me a worse person, I'm still gonna laugh.
Who needs electronic traction control? As I twist my manual hubs, lock the stick transfer case, and just ease off the clutch at a start...

Traction control is nice but not in this instance. It works great when it works right.
That reminds me of when my sister had her 4runner on a rough road in the mountains. The F150 is cruising through and her 4 runner engaged its downhill assist and then shut off. Weird...maybe it was by design.

Not only is it terribly flawed, but Toyota is refusing to acknowledge the problem. They said it is working as designed.
OH MY GOD. SO wait, it isn't just Ford dealerships? There were about 10 Toyota lovers on these boards who just won't believe this

Traction control! lol Yeah, I see, so in order to control traction the car just decides it's not going to try to apply the throttle? Laughable. In my opinion, if a car or truck, ANY CAR OR TRUCK, has traction control it should be required to have a switch to disable it. My guess is that this will be Toyota's "solution" to this problem.
My wife's Olds has Traction control and if it's snowy outside the first thing I do when I get in is to push the button to disable it. I've driven enough on slippery roads to know when to back out of the gas and I don't really want the car doing it automatically for me. In some instances it's better to have a spinning tire that to have the traction control activating when you don't need or expect it.
Sounds dangerous if you ask me.--DIY
Plus it's just too ironic from the company that makes a truck by the name "TUNDRA"!

My favoritie line.
Ultimately, he said, the only way to get the car up the remainder of the hill was to get out and push while his son put a foot gently on the throttle.

I just think it's great (not really) that a topic like this gets almost no replies, yet you people are quick to jump on the bandwagon of knocking Ford and/or praising Toyota in other threads.
And to think those same people said I was "blindly loyal," it couldn't possibly be that they are too?!!? No way....

Remember its a Sunday night...not a hot bed of activity.
I love Fords, drive an F150 and a Mustang GT.
My wife's Toyota has been perfect for 8 years. Toyota has built a reputation for high quality. Ignoring that is blind. I don't think Toyota is perfect but they sure do have a better track record than Ford over the past 20 years when you compare their entire lineup.
I've also driven my wife's Honda Pilot with and without the traction control and the traction control worked flawlessly in the snow.
Yep that's right I own a Toyota, Honda, and two Fords, throw in a temporary Kia which was cheap and reliable and I'll tell ya that no one company is perfect or crap just because it's Japanese.

Well, I'm not die-hard to ANY automotive group, but on average Toyota has had a better rep than most American Cars. I'll be the first to say I have a Ford, Honda and Kia in the driveway. The Ford has been to the shop four times, the Honda zero, and the Kia zero. Now, I'm not saying anyone is better than the other, but I love ALL of my cars, and I find it funny that the Ford has been in the shop four time at 33K miles and the kia has 130K and spent no time in the shop. Either way I like all cars and can find something good and bad to say about them ALL. I don't feel the need to post someone else's car problems on here to make me feel better about buying my Ford. Maybe the people that post so much about how bad Toyota and Honda...etc are is that they are jealous and trying to justify their reasoning for buying their Ford.
