Don't underestimate an attacker with a knife...

Some of y'all may have seen this floating around the net before, I haven't until today, and didn't really give much thought to someone with a knife.

WARNING! EXTREMELY graphic! Not for the faint of heart, I won't post pictures here, they're pretty gnarly. Again, not for the faint of heart!

Important safety tip, boys and girls - take someone coming at you with a knife very seriously. Someone trying to attack you with a knife definitely deserves to be shot.

Looks like a box cutter attack. Those things can do a lot of quick damage.

I think everyone's kinda missing the point. The reason the guy is lying in the hospital bed looking like a cheap steak is because he wasn't good/strong/fast/skilled etc enough to prevent the attack. Chances are you wouldn't be good/strong/fast/skilled etc either. If you look at the number of wounds, it clearly indicated the knife wielding chap was indeed QUITE skilled with a knife. Since he was in the USAF & was attacked in a Korean bar indicates to me that he was running his mouth and the Korean assailants decided to make him shut up. I would say they suceeded. Judging by the looks of things, I would say the attacker could have killed him at will but didn't further suggesting to me his skill with a blade. Like a few have pointed out, never try to take on a guy with a knife unless you're Jet Li or have a bigger/better weapon. I've been taking martial arts since I was 15 & you can rest assured that if I'm attacked with a knife & I have no weapon, I'm retreating like a little bitch. If retreat is not an option, I would venture a guess to say I would probably attempt to kill the person. I would have to get close to them to do so & I'd end up looking like the guy in the photo.

KC-10 FE out...

Yea it looks more like a Razor blade than a knife. Aren't razor blades a whole lot worse than getting cut with regular knife?

I don't want to be killed by either, but, being killed by a knife, to me, is far worse than being killed by a gun.

With a gun (If you're unlucky enough to go out that way) may at least be fast... Unless you're stabbed in the heart, there's no quick way to die from a knifing. Looking at those wounds, that was either an assault knife or a box cutter/razor.

My money's on the box knife/razor... Those SOB's will cut you deep, clean, and easy... Imagine how horrific the killings were on those planes on 9/11. IF they cut through dude's back like that, they's make short work out of a few jugular veins.

From what I've read, you're more likely to die from knife wounds than you are if you got shot.
