Anyone pulling for Toyota in NASCAR?

I personally am a diehard Jeff Gordon fan, although I hate Chevrolet. I know, but I don't care if He drives a school bus, I'll pull for him. I was the same way with Ernie Irvan. Didn't matter what make or model, I pulled for him. Anyway, I think that this is going to be one very interesting season. Toyota in NASCAR, new networks, Harvick talkin trash about Teresa Earnhardt, Tony Stewart on SIRIUS , 12 men in the Chase, more points for wins, and the COT. I bet that first race at Bristol with the COT, will be an instant classic! How are they going to fix the nose of that thing? Will it even be driveable without the front spoiler? Will Toyota win a race in the first year? With the crop of Losers they picked, I doubt it. We'll see. I hate to see Toyota in there, but I bet the other teams will really pick up the pace. Just look at Roush . He's partnered with the owner of the Red Sox, for cryin' out loud. He seems the most threatened by Toyota. Someone else please chime in...

Thumbs down

I'd rather see a Chevy win than a Toyota. Coming from me, that's quite a statement.

Isn't everything controled so tightly that the only real difference in cars is the decal and the driver?

It looks that way sometimes, but no, it isn't. Money is the key. If you got it, you will compete, if not, don't hold your breathe. These cars are so sensitive in regards to`aerodynamics, that if they bash the corner of the nose in they're screwed. Toyota has no notes on setups for different tracks, no love in the garage, just money. It should be very hard for them at first. If it's not, look out!
They do have some experienced drivers, though. DJ has a past champions provisional, so he'll make the races. Dave Blaney finished 23rd in points last year, so he'll be in there for a while. I just hope Vickers blows up in front of Tony the Puddy Tat every week!

Too bad you are too young---Dodge (well Plymouth) made the Barracuda, Dodge made the original Charger and Challenger.

When I was sixteen I went to the drag strip and saw The Little Red Wagon. Dodge did make some badass cars back then..

I like to pull for the underdog....which includes Toyota and a few of the old timers too, no matter which manufacturer's sticker is on the car.

Those cars were badass but they screwed up the Charger name when they brought it back as a sedan.

Yep, sure did...nothin' more than a family car now. My uncle had a Barracuda ragtop. I loved that car. The Roadrunners were cool too, but when they made the Superbirdsthey went a little too far.

I personally dont have a problem seeing Toyota, its not like Ford, GM, or Dodge Nascars have any affiliation with the real cars anyway. Im curious to see how Toyota does. Also, since Toyota employs so many US workers it doesnt bother me a bit. Now when I see Ford out there with these expensive sponsorships, and then announcing plant closings left and right, that irritates me...alot.

I do believe that Toyota will be competitive, but I don't think they'll win a race the first year. Well, I don't think any Toyota driver will dominate a race and win. One of them might win in a weird race were the leaders hit oil and spin, or some crazy circumstance. Although money is the key to good parts and people, these teams are going in with no notes, no race experience with the new cars, and drivers that are either in their last years or not the best anyway.(please don't anyone say "what about vickers?", he sux.) I think that Toyota knows that they may not have success at first. They took a long term approach to becoming the worlds #1 automaker, and I believe they will do the same in the cup series. If they can come up from behind and kick the crap out of Ford and Chevy at the dealership, they can certainly do it in racing. I hate to say that, but it's true.:o
