What p!sses you off? (2007)

I think I've done this thread for 2005 & 2006, so here's 2007, and I have a new one...

As you guys & gals know, I'm working on my Masters. Taking 9 semester hours this semester. Well, one of the things that really chaps my **** in any class, is when we have a freaking "know it all" that wants to "debate" with the freaking instructor.

Not only is this guy a "know it all, but doesn't know jack" he's a loud mouth, he interjects- cutting the professor off at will. We somehow got on the subject of global warming and how it may or may not be real, and some of the things that have happened in the world, this smart emmer-effer when asked how many people died from the Tsumani in December 2004, hollered out confidently "Approximately 110,000 people died in the Tsunami of Dec. 26, 2004". Not even giving anyone a chance to raise a hand, or anything. A few of us said, "No, approximately 250,000 people died as a result of the Tsumani of 2004". "Oh really, I didn't know that..."

It went on and on (You know how the first night is generally a meet & greet session). When asked what countries are currently polluting the world's air he most, he hollered out, "America is, by far!!" "No, currently, China and India (as well as Mexico) are doing far more harm to the world's atmosphere than America." America may be more industrialized (For now), but those countries don't have EPA, and other agencies putting guidelines in place to reduce or eliminate pollutants. They don't have as many cars & trucks, but for the ones that do, they don't require catalytic converters, etc.. So, they're polluting in a far more excessive manner. Not to be discouraged (or wrong) he said, "Well, historically, America is the worst polluter"

Class started the other night, and there he goes again... Debating and deliberating damn-near everything we discussed. Dude, even if you're right, what you know or think you know is not in the book, and it's not testable, so I'd rather not hear it.

I don't mind opinions, and I don't mind HEARING them if the freaking professor (Who holds a freaking PhD. asks you for it). But dammit, I didn't pay for tuition and books to hear your-@$$ debate with the highly educated, and experienced Professor, whom I have paid to learn from.

It's to the point now, that when he talks, I see the men drop their heads, and the women roll their eyes. I am about this close to saying, "Will you shut the f**k up!"

I swear to God, this guy is really getting on my Got-D**n nerves. While I'm sure my classmates will applaud me for doing so, I'm sure the Professor might ask me to leave if I come with the whole "Shut the f**k up" thing.

I'm usually a pretty patient dude, but this guy ~R~E~A~L~L~Y~ gets under my skin. With every sigh, with every under-the-breath chuckle, and with every deep exhale...

Makes me wish he and I were on the football team together, so I could knock the s**t out of him, legally- and not make it look personal.

That does it for me, so, what p!sses you off?

We have a guy like that too...he knows it all and yet knows nothing.

We tolerate and sometimes chide him into better conduct. Sometimes he gets it, sometimes he doesn't...

Oh well...

Stupidity, not ignorance. Just plain old "Too dumb to walk and chew gum at the same time" stupidity. I just have no patience for it and I usually tell the offender so.

I actually had a Proffessor last semester tell a guy to shut the hell up and that he was always wrong. It was the high light of my year.

But really cheap people **** me off. I have some aquaintences here at school that always insist on going out with the group but always complain about how much stuff is going to cost. These are the same people that when they tag along on vacations mooch food off of everyone else and bitch and moan about eating a nice restaurants and going to nice bars. I mean hell, we are on vacation spend a little money and lets have a little fun and its not like they don't have the money because that is different, we have all struggled finacially. These people have jobs but just refuse to spend their money. If its that big of a deal don't come with the rest of us because you are ruining my life. God I hate that.

Ive one girl like that in two of my classes, always wants to answer but just doesnt have a freakin clue about anything. At least once everyclass she will ask the prof a question that was just answered 2 seconds before she asks the same damn question.

Even better in the second class with her there is an old woman who is always making comments about how "this doesnt make sense, thats stupid, or it shouldnt be like that". I just want to tell her "Thats the way it is, thats what the requirements are, now shut the ******* up, accept it and let the rest of us learn it!"

But, that wouldnt be promoting a respectful learning environment

Who cares about a respectful learning environment? I just want to get done and I think I'm probably not the only person that feels that way.

...so, what p!sses you off?
Those stupid e-mails that end with "send this to as many people as possible" or "send this to everyone you care about".
I usually delete them but, I finally blew my top the other day and forwarded a reply to all. I ripped the do-good sender a new one.
It was something about plastic wrap in the microwave and plastic bottles in the freezer causing cancer.

Part of my response:

"Do you really think the best way to spread the word about those plastic ice trays THAT WE HAVE BEEN USING FOR THE LAST 65 YEARS cause cancer is to hope to God that YOU will tell 10 of your friends?
Think about it!
One - It would would be on your nightly news.
Two- It would at least be buried on some page of your newspaper
Three - Oh yeah and, YOU COULDN'T BUY PLASTIC ICE TRAYS AT W A L M A R T!
"
