Yep, 2 - 3 icy days in a row here, and with today's new coating, the boss called and told us all to work from home...

Yes-sir, gotta love a job that cares about its people.
In my old gig, I'd have had to slip & slide my way in there.

Driving on snow is easy- driving on ice is tough- I don't care who you are, there's no such thing as being 100% in control- not on ice.. I can drive on it, but I can't account for the ones who can't- and don't want them bashing into my vehicles.

I've jack-knifed on ice before going down hill with the towing pentel and trailer tongue leading the way. That was a Maalox moment, let me tell you. That was 18 years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday.

It's 25 miles to work, got about half way there, called to say I would be a little late, they told me to turn around and go home, that hiway 360 was a parking lot. I have to go in on 360.

I was going down a small country road, 3 teenage boys were next to the road, one had a shovel or scoop. As I went by, he scooped up some snow off the road, threw it at me. Hit the rear quarter. Soon as I could get stopped, I backed up and got out. They started mouthing at me, saying Dude, it was just snow. I was pretty pissed, walked up to them and started telling them they had no business throwing snow or anything else at people's proerty. The one with the scoop was about Stealth's size except he was not all fat. He started waving it like a baseball bat and threatening me. I stepped up close, grabbed the front of his collar, pulled him closer and asked him if he wanted to eat that thing, because I was very close to going Jamzwayne on him. When I said that, all three backed off and started sulking down the road. I told them that if they had to throw snow, throw it at each other. Dang if they didn't start throwing snowballs at each other. I got in the truck and drove off There were a few other words in there I won't get into, but that is the jest of it. Mentioning Jamzwayne is a real equalizer.

Hey Jamz, I put some snow pics in my gallery under More Pics. Not a lot of snow, but more than we usually get!

Geez, Jim. That does not sound like fun. Drivers on the slick stuff is bad enough, now it's the pedestrans too. I would have gone off too.

I got almost to Mansfield before I turned around. It was not really all that bad, but I could see it was getting to be more ice than snow, and after learning that 360 was stalled, I lost interest.

I watched the news after mom gave me the call. The local traffic lady was giving a report on traffic cameras. There was camera on 360, she said Oh my friends ( My wife and I laughed at that comment), 360 is a parking lot. I'm just glad I didn't have to tackle that mess of a commute, hopefully it melts off by tomorrow.

When is 360 not a parking lot? When I lived in Burleson and came to work (Las Colinas), I would avoid 360 at all cost and come up on the almost as equal PITA 183/121...so glad I moved to Lewisville, now I take the semi loop 635 to Macarthur, 20 minute jaunt...

Well, there was only remnant of ice last night, and I was heading out to a friends house in Garland. From the High-Five to Northwest highway, east bound, a scant 5 miles, took me 1h:15 minutes in bumper to bumper and mirror to mirror traffic on LBJ/635 East.

DAMN!

I'll be glad when these guys stop *icking around with 75 and 635. I've been here 10 years, and those roads have been under some form of construction the entire time...

What's amazing to me about 635 is that it used to be the "outer loop" around the DFW area. Since it was put in, the DFW area, and surrounding suburbs have grown so much, 635 is now a "middle loop" and the George Bush Turnpike is the outer loop.

The way Allen, Plano, Frisco, Prosper, Denton & McKinney are growing, they need to make 380 into a serious highway. Especially Frisco. Sheesh! There's no light-traffic way to get into that SOB; unless you have access to a helicopter. Growing too fast for the roads to handle the onslaught of traffic.

Yeah, that's the light traffic side of 635 (Unless there's a problem at the airport), but traversing 635 between 35 and Highway 80, especially from 6:30 - 9:30, and 4:30 - 7:30, is almost an exercise in futility...

Traffic here is bad, but when I saw TRAFFIC in the New York area last year- it almost made me promise not to complain about Dallas traffic again... We were stuck in New Jersey, trying to get into New York. As we got closer to the city, I can tell you, we sat on the Verrezano bridge long enough for me to count almost all the rivets on that thing...
