And that is not even considering use of the device for WiFi access, iPod use, etc.
Kudos to Mr. Jobs on this breakthrough product, but as with most "firsts", this one would be better suited to wait for version "1.5".

We have both Cingular and Verizon between me and the wife2b......My Cinular always has signal when we travel.....her Verizon does not.....not to mention the dropped calls she tends to experience........

For those looking for a simple phone without all the games, cameras, music bla, bla, bla, give Samsung a look see. When I started with Sprint, I told the salesman that I work in a steel shop and needed a durable phone. He recommended the Samsung 850. Best phone he had at the time. It was the one he used personally, and demonstrated it buy throwing it on the concrete floor. I got the phone and it survived everything from weld spatter to bouncing down the highway at 70mph while riding the motorcycle.
I had that phone for 5 years before I told Sprint to take a flying leap. It still resides in my truck as a clock.
Right before Christmas I switched to Alltel. I had no problem at all going with Samsung phones. This time I got the Samsung a645 and love it. It does have web services and text messaging but I told them not to subscribe me to them. There are no games, no camera, bla, bla, bla. I love these phones. The best part for me is there is no external antenna to get hooked on the seat of me truck when I get in all the time.

I had the same Nokia phone for 4 years. I went to the AT&T shop and asked what I needed to do to get a new phone. They explained I would have to pay for a new phone.
I asked them to pull my account up - the guy says "Wow, you've been a customer for a long time !!" I mentioned that during those 10 years, my monthly bill was a minimum of $150 and often times over $300.
He said he couldn't do anything - I said "I can". I literally walked across the street to the Verizon store.
I am SOOOO glad a person with a brain wasn't working that day - I was stunned at how much better the Verizon service is. I drove from Aztec, NM to Victorville, CA and was amazed that I had signal for the entire trip. Talk about some desolate areas !!!
Take your Cingular phone into some of the hotels in DC, if you want privacy that is... I was at a show there - the show floor was in the basement of the Marriott. All around me, people talking on their phones - me, no signal. I asked them who their carrier was - Verizon !! How can Cingular ignore the 3rd largest market in the US ?
Drive from San Diego to LA and watch how many times your Cingular phone has no service.
I know none of them are perfect, but Verizon has not lost the "Best Coverage" contest (as determined by the mobile technology magazines) in years.
BTW - their broadband service rocks too !!!

That phone looks sick! Did I miss the price somewhere? And when does it come out?
