A neighbor has 2 border collies. Worked on them. The fence is no longer active and they no longer wear the collars, yet they know where to stop. Another neighbor trained an Irish Setter that way.

if it is a young dog the invisable fence will train it quite quickly
used one on my pup 5 years ago
the little flags are there and still keeps him in
haven't actully turned the radio on in a year or two
would advise getting the hand fob as well
used mine to keep pup from running in the
garage every time you open the door
he kept hitting the door senser reversing the door
mitch

our husky mix runs through ours almost daily- the toy poodle on the other hand does some pretty neat gymnastics when he attempts to cross the line as the voltage is maxed for Shiloh (husky chow rotweiller)

My girlfriend has a Rottweiler(sp?). They use the Invisible fence in their yard and it works great. Usually the dog only has to get shocked once or twice before they realize what's going on. Her house is next to a park and some middle school punks found out about the fence so they decided to stand right on the otherside and tease the dog. The dog didn't chase after them but I did

So your saying they need a collar for you?

My friends put one up and it kept thier dogs in including the older Rott. named Romeo, (becasue he was a ladies dog and a charmer to the ladies.)
He is a cool dog

Put one in last summer for my lab. He was about 1 at the time. Took him maybe a day to get the hang of it.

We have four dogs---three labsand a labX---and we have a littlemorethan an acre---the underground fence is amazing. They can run, play, and chase rabbits to their hearts content; once the one was trained, the othersquickly leanred as they became members of our family. They quickly learned their boundaries. Only once did one break the fence line, he got shocked and yelped and tried to get back in. Haven't had a jail break since. If you train them well, you should have no problems. The collar, the sensitivity, and the battery setting all need to be on the same page.

I always thought those fences were cruel. But that's just me.

They don't hurt much

Plus they only get shocked once or twice then they learn to stay away. Beats the hell out of a school bus teaching them their boundaries.

Yeah, I know. But that getting shocked once or twice would kill me.
