Olevia LCD TV...any good?

So after my last "escapade" with buying an LCD tv, I swore I would never look at another brand name I was not familiar with. Thank god I took the 32" back and got the Sony 32" LCD..what a difference.Anyway, I was in BJ's over the holidays and came across the Olevia 37" LCD. It looks nice in all black, you can put the speakers on the sides or across the bottom and the picture was great ( as it sat on the shelf in BJ's ) I'm looking for a new TV for the bedroom. It will have an HD box hooked to it a DVD player, Playstation 2 and maybe my computer. Has anyone had any experience with this TV? Is it good, decent or just plain crap? I know you get what you pay for, but at $899.00 it seems kinda hard to pass up. Heres the link to the TV, tell me what you think... http://www.olevia.com/jsp/products/detail.jsp?pid=537h

I found a couple of reviews, that stated the TVs they reviewed were okay, with a few none quality cons. Mainly picture quality on analog stations and color defaults. It looks like it is a Chinese (Hong Kong) company owned by someone called the Syntax Group, whoever they are. Could not find anything on their history. Even on their website.

Exclamation

I highly discourage any TV purchases from non tier-1 makers. They just don't compare.

My uncle (the computer freak) just bought an Olevia for like $450. It's probably 37" too. Something about something in it is made by some big company. Who knows. I'll ask him tomorrow. It was in the room that I was sleeping in. Good picture, but the remote SUCKED. However, I'm not sure if one of the kids or dogs had gotten ahold of the remote... Basically, if he'd buy it, I'd buy it.

If your looking at LCD only then your list should read Sharp, Sony and Samsung. Anything else is wasting your time and money.

Here's one of the best and it's in your price range. Highly rated by the AV community.

Nice TV, but Im looking for one to hang on the wall.

D'...I just want a good picture. I honestly don't watch it all that much but I still want a good picture and a good quality TV. I'm not sure I want to go with LCD or Plasma. I never thought I would get a Plasma, but I guess they are getting better. So come on man,,, tell me what you would get in that price range and size. I dont need a $10,000 50" Plasma

I do have a 26" Panasonic LCD HDTV in my bedroom. Good picture and no problems after a year. Sometimes it seems a bit small though after watching my 61" in the living room or my Gateway 24" LCD HDTV computer monitor. I must say, I went from an Apple HD cinema 23" display to the Gateway, and the Gateway blows the Apple away. Far better picture, sharpness, and color.

Well your in LCD only territory as plasmas don't start until 42". In the 32-37" market I'd just suck it up and get the best there is in that segment. The Sharp AQUOS LC-37D40U. If your cheap get the 32" version. Your going to pay $1000-$1500 depending on the size you choose and where you get it.

You won't be disappointed.

I got Toshiba Regza 32 inch lcd. I paid 1300 for it. It's got a good picture. I got the toshiba hd dvd player. The only thing I thought was rediculous was the hdmi cables price. That hurts a little.

Yeh, I know i'm in the LCD territory, but just still on the fence about this. I hate to say it, but I think i'm gonna try to get away cheap on this one. I really only watch it at night while in bed. So it gets about an hour or 2 use every night. This is not something I need, it's just what I want and I'm in the mood to spend some money..lol. Maybe I'll hit Best Buy this weekend, although I won't give a single dime to them Magnolia idiots.
