keeping animals off of your vehicle....

ok, i know this is kind of wierd, but here we go.

My neighbours frikkin cat has been using my truck as a jungle gym, as since i 4x4in a while ago, i can now see all the footprints from the little bastard. trouble is, apparently his owners don't trim his claws cuz hes scratched the tailgate and the drivers side of the bed.

I don't have anything in the back of the truck that would attract an animal in there, so what gives?

Is there any little tricks i can do to keep the thing off my vehicle, short of catching him in the sights of a pellet gun? (.22 would cause a bit of a stir in suburbia )

Thanks for any help,

Tanner

Here there are leash laws for cats as well as dogs. Find out from the city about such an ordinance and if there is one, call the pound, and goodbye kitty.

Bad part is what if you miss, then you have a bit more than a scratch on the hood.
I believe the main reason they jump up on vehicles is warmth and security. Warmth from the engine and sun hitting the paint. Security from animals like dogs.
Check with your local animal control on local laws. Also talk to your neighbors about repainting your truck. See if that makes them keep the cat indoors as he should be.

If you can catch him near your vehicle and blast him with some OC (pepper spray) he will probably stay away. Don't spray him while he is on your vehcile because he will scratch the devil out of it trying to run away. Pepper spray won't hurt him, at least not permanantly, but it will burn the crap out him for at least 20 minutes.

Catch him in your yard and take him out to the country and let him out. If the owners are negligent enough to let him out of their yard to roam around then they don't deserve to keep the cat.

What you do with him/her once you get the cat to the country is your business.

Just don't let them catch you doing it or you could probably be in some trouble.

Them cork sucking forking little bastids are always climbing on my truck as well. There are little scratches all over my hood. The problem I have is the kids. They would be crushed If they came up missing. If you find a remedy I would love to hear it.

Remember the cartoon Tom & Jerry? Why not buy or adopt a pit-bull and chain it up close to your truck? Not too close though. Just let the course of nature take over.

I had some stupid cats that would fight in my back yard at night. I was getting really tired of cats waking me up and also finding cat ***** all over my yard. I put a handful of paintballs in the freezer, cranked up the pressure all the way on my paintball gun and kept it by the back door ready for action. When I finally caught one of the little bastards in my yard I let him have it several of the frozen paintballs found their mark and since then no more cats. If I need to readdress this problem it will be with my .22 and some CB caps. I am tired of stepping in crap in my yard when I don’t own an animal.

I'll let you come up with the answer to that.
