That makes it even worse. My laptop screen is crap for looking at photos. This is why I run dual monitor setup with a CRT for photoshop work. For best web photo display set your monitor for sRGB profile, but it won't help much on a craptop screen, but it will help.

This one actually does pictures justice. Good to me resolution. Maybe not to others, but I think so.

Haha. Now I didn't say that, I was just just stating my honest opinion of the lighting, and if that offends, we're in a sad place.

It's actually a long process to explain, I calibrate mine manually using a photograph I've taken and I do it with that same photograph open in photoshop. I will spend atleast an hour adjusting and corecting till the image colors tone and contrast are as close to the photgraph as I can. That way I am calibrated for that lab.

For print publishing I have a printer that does the press print for me, So I'll take somehting I had him print and creat a second profile, and do the same for him...

Then I have a web profile, I open the photograph in explorer and adjust to match then I know I am as true to life as the photolab. A good lab will calibrate thier machines each morning with high tech equipment both hardware and software.

You can do a search there is software you can get, I'm sure somewhere there is free software. I dont know like I said I do mine all manually.

This looks like a good page for a quick check.

Although according to that page my gamma is off....

LOL

I kind of thought that.....

Originally it was going to be called "Going Out" and she was standing in your drive waiting for you to take her out. But the image changed slightly..... I'll see if I can find a better girl.

That tesy must be off. I tried it and it showed both my monitors and being good. I know my laptop screen is off, not to mention that my monitors don't even come close to comparing on anything. How can they both be good on this test?

This is the same way I do it. I have a lot of people that I give work to on CD so they can take it to Walmart. For this reason I have a print here that came from Walmart that I use to manually calibrate. When I am done I go through and calibrate my own printer to match so that everything prints and looks the same. This way if someone want me to do the printing myself I am ready to go, but if I get one of those nutjobs that insists WalMart has bigger toys so they can do a better job, I am all set up for them as well.

I quit using walmart for anything about 2 years ago. The techs quit checking thier equipment and it would come back different every time. I refused to take 150 prints of my brothers wedding I made for some family tha twas leaving town, becasue there was no magenta in the pic, everyone looked like they had gray skin.

For snapshots I use wallgreens, ours is a new lab and the techs seem to be knowledgable and care about the print quality. For important jobs I go through Mpix.com (which uses Millers lab) but you dont have to do the $5000 in bussines annually.

yea forget that site... crap... I adjusted my gamma to it, then went back and looked at the pic and she was as washed out as the grass.... but then I opened up a photo in photoshop just now.... and it was washed out too. So if your at 1.8 gamma according to that site then..... you'd be off bad.

I've got some sigs to make, then I'll ask around in approproiate forums and see if anyone knows a reputable site. Tha twas just the first one in a google search.
