I have a 30 gig video iPod I use more to transfer files between computers than I do as an MP3 player. It works good as an MP3 player though, whenever I use it for that.

Yes.

OK, I could probably be more specific but you need to also.

Which on are you thinking of getting?

There's the iPod shuffle:

Which is a tiny thing with no screen. It holds and plays music, plays it at random. (I've never liked the shuffle but it's very popular).

There's the nano:

Has a screen, comes with all the bells and whistles. Plays music and has memo, address book, etc.
I have a first gen nano and use it all the time when working out. It's great.

And then there's the iPod

Which does everything the nano does and it also plays videos and movies.
I have one of these too and have tons of tv shows and movies. I use this a lot while traveling and watch stuff while flying as the movie choices on the plane usually suck.

They are all great, work well, and iTunes is very easy to use.

As for is it worth it? Well, there are cheaper devices out there, but none better.

Well, they are considerably different.

The main difference being the iPod can show video. And if you want video then your choice is made. It also has a lot more storage, so if you plan to also use it for giant files then it's good for that too.

If you don't need video and you don't need over 8 gig, then the nano is your iPod. Plus it's much lighter and smaller and easier to carry around. The regular iPod doesn't weigh all that much either, but compared to each other , the nano is tiny.

The new nano, with multi colours and aluminum body is a lot nicer than the first gen. nano that I have. I only use the big one when traveling, otherwise I always use the nano.

Whichever you choose, should you decide to go iPod, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Ive got the 60G video Ipod, and love it. I use mine mostly just on trips, so mine is loaded w/ video and hardly any music. Just make sure to get some kinda cover/protector for the whole deal (screen and body) they seem to get the crap scratched out of them very easily. .

I've still got my Ipod Mini - non-color screen. It is the 3 gig model, currently has over a 1000 songs and still not quite full. I just put it on shuffle and go. I'm very happy with my unit. The biggest complaint is the battery but because I have in my truck most of the time it isn't an issue.

I bought the new version of the Shuffle a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. I don't care about a screen or text as I use it for riding my bicycle or hiking. With 1 gb of storage, it will hold around 240 songs and the battery will go for about 12 hours before needing to be recharged. I simply turn it on, push play, stick it in my pocket or clip it on my shirt and go. No muss, no fuss.

regards

I have a 30gb video and it has over 5,000 songs on it. I don't use the video or photo capabilities, don't need them. And they do get scratched up very easily, so get something to protect the front of it right away.

I thought about buying one...

Then, I remembered- I haven't listened to headphones since 1996; besides, I have a car when I'm traveling, a computer when I'm working, and a stereo when I'm at home.

Don't need one...

But, they are nice looking. I've fought the urge to get one for the above reasons, because I know when I do, after a few days, my son will be playign with it- probably end up in the dog's water bowl...
