I disagree Matt......I can't tell you how many construction projects I have managed that had Union workers that did crap work (when they did work)......I prefer the "right-to-work" states and their workers over a Union guy anyday.....If you TRUELY believe that the Unions have your best interest at their helm then you are lost already.......

Everybody is going cheep in this world now a days, which in return causing people to work there butts off even more today then in the past to keep up with the cost of living.
I'm just trying my best to make you guys try to understand that Unions are here to protect there workers un-like what walmart has done.
everything was going great in the 80's, now today everyone wants to go cheep thinking it will solve everything, but you get what you pay for.

We are going backwards and it's going to hurt for about 10 years or so, until pay and product balance, the goal is to get ahead in the long run......

all this talk about long lunches and so many breaks is so false that its un-real. Our contract that we have to follow is a 5 min break between 9am to 9:05am. Lunch is at 12-12:30 and thats all the break we have, we do not get paid for lunches, we only get paid for a 5 minute break.
I can tell you this much, Unions out of Cleveland work circles around non-union here.
Also, I dont know where you got your numbers from, but I think you are looking at companies gross pay out.....
Of course a company with 100 employess making $7 an hour is going to pay out more than a company with 25 employess making $15......
100 X $7 an hour = $700 an hour
25 X $15 an hour = $375 an hour
Walmart employs ALOT more people than any 2 unions put together..... of course they are going to be paying more in wages.

I've worked unions, I know better......
Those are "guidlines" as long as your meeting minimal production, the employer is dis empowered. Lazy people keep thier job and everyone else has to pick up the slack.
Whe n iworked union I only made $14 an hour, but only worked 30 mins at a time, then breaked for 30 mins...... and ran at 200% doing it. YEA union thank you, was good for me..... now they make those jeans in mexico where the worker works a full 8 hour shift and kicks out twice as many jeans.........
Yea union that plan worked............
Lenore thank you for your post and questions. Yes most of us are happy with our Ford products. Are they perfect? No, but not much is in this world. I've worked for Ford for 25 years now and some of the stuff they do will infuriate you. But overall they do make strong solid products, especially the trucks. I've owned everything from Camrys to Corvettes to F150's and they all had good points and bad points. Now comes the best part. You can sit back and watch you're thread spiral out of control into a huge union debate. Most of us on here (with one notable exception
) hate unions for what they've done to the American auto industry. So just sit back and enjoy the ride!
P.S I almost forgot...can anyone suggest what oil I should run in my "union" made truck??

I guess different states have different ways of working I suppose, but I would love for you to come here in Cleveland and overlook our production our company puts out per day, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised and pleased with all of us. (no joke)

When I worked as an assembler for Gulfstream it was work 1+50, 10 minute break. Work 1+50, 30 minute lunch. Work 1+50, 10 minute break. Work 1+50, 10 minutes to clean up. $5 an hour. UAW made. Gulfstream is probably the best business jet in the world.
Remember this. Your non-union job can be done better and cheaper by anyone who is unemployed.
As for union made, no one makes a better truck than the FORD Kentucky Truck Plant.
So what is the conequinces if you take an extra break?
And no, I'm a semi bean counter, very consious of cost.... if your making 3 times as much pay, you'd have to be putting out 3 times as much to make me happy. If a worker is working hard and doing 100% humanly possiable, I dont see a group coming in and doing it 300% faster using the same man hours...... It's humanly impossiable.

In regards to happiness and vehicles; one has to recognize that some people swear buy Fords, and some people swear at them. Some people just like GM products (or Ford products, or Daimler-Chrysler products) better---it is a mindset. I agree with Vader 716---what is the best product for the least amount of $$. Too many of my freinds are happy with the Hondas or Toyotas or Nissans---those companies must be doing something right.
I really have had a great experience with the Ford products that I own; as I stated before--my beef tends to go to the dealership side, not the vehicle side of the argument. As for my F-150, it has been the best truck/vehicle that I have driven in a long, long time.

If a Honda, Toyota or Nissan hits me head on he's gonna lose. They probably won't even activate my airbag.

We go by the book pretty good over here for the most part, 8 hours is a normal work day. anything past 8 hrs is time and a hlaf, anything over 10 hours a day is double time, working through lunch is time and a half, a long with working saturdays is time and a half and double time sundays.
