$599.16 Paper Weight

I bought an Xbox 360 on 06/03/06. Apparently they only have a 3 month warranty. Mine is blinking 3 red lights. What a pos. With that out of the way. They want a $175.00 dollars to repair it. What would you do. I'm getting a WII on the 19th of this month. I paid 775 for off gamestop with "3 year warranty." Should I just sale it with like the 10 games I have bought for it and just go with the WII or should I buy a new one. I've got original box and everything. What a total ripoff.

I'd start googling for the problem. It is basically a computer, maybe you can repair it yourself.

Sell it to me for $10 and I will attempt to fix it, or...

You might be able to do this yourself.
The fix?

Just a quick and dirty search on my part, you can do some digging around there for additional information. If it doesn't work, pawn it off on someone who might know how to fix it.

For 10 dollars I'll shoot it with the glock a few times. I guess I'll go get a heatgun from ratshack. Thanks for the replies. If that don't work its going on ebay.

I've heard Wally-world/Wal-Mart changed their policy about returns.

As for the problem, that sucks. you said you got a 3 year warranty? Why is that not helping? I'm confused here

Wal*Mart no longer takes anything back unless it was purchased from them and can be proven. At least that's how it was last time I tried this one...

I got the warranty on the WII and I just looked it up and it one year. I didn't get the warranty on the xbox 360, but then again I figured everything had a 1 year manufacturer warranty. I didn't know to be honest. The Wal-Mart idea is great, but I got it at EB. Last time I was in there I saw a guy taking back a pack of link sausage. I swear it looked funny.

Well I took it apart today. It acts like the processor dead if you ask me. It will run for about 4 minutes and then overheat. If you let it sit for about 30 minutes you can run it again for about 5 five minutes. I gotta go to lowes tonight and get some torx screw drivers so I can take the heat sinks off and see if I can reseat them. Then tighten them down as much as possible. Any ideas about what else I can check would be helpful.

If you paid for the 360 via credit card, some cc have extended warranty.

I bought it using my debit card. I have got it completely open now and I ran scotch tape along the gap in between the fan shroud and the heat sinks. Its been up for 20 mins so far. I don't see how they could be losing money on this pos. It's made cheap as hell.

Off topic kind of, but I bought a ethernet hub one night at Wallyworld... got home and took it out of the box and there was a best buy sticker on the plastic bag of the box, all is well with it though 4 months later.

Go to walmart or target, buy a brand new one, then a few days later take your old one, and your new receipt and get a refund.
simple as pie

Also get some of the 20 dollar helper fans if you store it on its end.
