True, but St. Peters is going to have a lot better roads than good ol Rolla. There's still plenty of roads out here that haven't been plowed yet. Where in St. Peters are you at?

Only the main roads were plowed here on Friday morning, I did a little off-roading (sides streets and parking lots) just to check out the new Dunlops. They bite pretty well, I was chewing through the sleet piles in a nice controlled forward motion. Couldn't find anything that stopped me.

But the 4/6 lowering makes for a lot of snowplow action from the lower parts of the truck....

Jungermann/Willott area.

Haha..I'm right by you when I'm not at school in St. Charles, off Truman Rd/Cave Springs. By the YMCA. And I was fortunate enough to find a park down here that didn't have ANY plowed roads. Only got kinda stuck once going uphill cause I didn't have enough speed.

This isnt the best idea. Ever saw a truck that was ditched with bricks piled in back for weight. The one I saw darn near killed the guy. 4 or 5 bricks flying thru the back glass.

I use salt for the same reason you mentioned turbo.
I put about 300lbs behind the axle, never had problems with steering. Not that much weight to lift the front.

I have a bed cover on this truck, but have had open beds and used salt and never had it stolen. There again, never know, some real aholes around. But, for the price if it gets stolen are you really out that much.

Sled...

Keyword, aholes! Thats Akron at its finest hehe.

You guys are lucky, we havent even gotten a dusting yet in Akron. I hear its an el nino year which should mean the temperature stays warmer on average, which means the lake doesnt freeze and we get more snow. I dont mind snow at all, its this miserable 20 degree weather and the 5* windhchill! I want to drive the truck in some snow, hopefully we get a little soon so I can find out how much more salt I will need!

8" of snow over 1" of ice here in Tulsa. I had 2' deep drifts in my yard. No problems in my 4x4 with about 40# of logs in the back. They weren't there for traction, I just need to clean out my truck!

I wouldn't use rock salt. If you get a hole in the bag you'll get salt in the bed every time it rains. Use sand! You'll still get sand in the bed, but sand doesn't cause corrosion.

I was kinda worried about the salt corroding as well but it has a liner so Im not too worried yet. Plus we dont get rain in Ohio, just white flakes. And it probably wont melt for a good 2-3 months heh.

On a side note, you Ohio guys should be happy. I hear the snow belt is supposed to get anywhere from 2" to a foot on thursday. Im almost looking forward to this.

I also pulled one out. It was an extended cab full size. 2!

I got stuck in a Chevy HHR rental car ONE FREAKIN' BLOCK from airport parking where I had left my truck. I had to rent a car to drive home because the Tulsa airport was closed. I was stuck in a 2" rut in the ice and it took three guys to push it out.

Nice! I pulled out an S-10, going uphill, and I was still on snow/melted slushy ice stuff. Started out in 2nd, gave it gas. Wasn't doing much so I dropped it into first and gunned it. That worked

I'm glad I bought some new Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S tires a couple months ago. They're supposed to do really good in icy/wet/snow conditions. Well, at least that's what the reviews at tirerack.com said. I hope all them people ain't lying.

About the weight in the bed... I also have a 2wd, and I have a couple dozen concrete blocks that I'm thinking about putting back there. I want to put a 2"x4" in the notches in the inside wall of each side of the bed to hold the blocks in place. Do you guys think that'd be a good idea? Or should I buy some sand bags and be on the safe side? :santa:

A buddy at work just had new Yokahama tires put on his Dakota. I told him "I thought you hated foreign cars!" "But you'll buy foreign tires though, huh?" He said "Dont remind me, they were $100 cheaper than Goodyears."

I used to have a 2x4 piece of wood for the notches, I pitched it.

FOX 8 is saying 5-10" for us and 6-12" in Cleveland, and maybe even 20" in the snow belt out east. I cant freakin wait!!!!
