Driving a 2wd pickup in winter...
I just went and bought some rock salt but someone that doesnt even own a truck brought something to my attention. I put $4 bags of salt in my open bed free for the taking. DOH! Sure it will weight down the bed but I dont have a cover on the bed so anyone in the neighborhood could just stroll over and steal my salt haha. Guess I need to rethink this strategy.
I used to just load up and concrete blocks, and never had a problem getting anywhere. Even pulled a guy out of ditch, who was surprised when he found out I didn't have 4X4 (old truck, not this one).
Just got new tires yesterday, Comanche Radial A/Ts, I do a lot of business with the place I got them, he said pretty much all the snowbladers around here use them, went through a bit of mud last night just playing around, much better than the Wranglers I replaced.
Couple hundred pounds of weight (using lead blocks this year) and Iowa can throw whatever it wants at me, I'm ready.

Well that makes one of us! I would like christmas to be white but it could be 60 all winter like it has been thru November and I wouldnt shed a tear!
I found someone to buy my salt so Im gonna go buy some tube sand or something else. That way at least no ghetto thieves take my salt.

I don't think were going to see any snow here this year bud!
The only weight I normally run in the back of my truck is the spare tire and a full tank of gas. However, we got enough snow and ice that my bed is over halfway full, and the back of my truck is squatting some. If only I could make it into my parking spot here...(seriously). Our lot is an ice skating rink.
EDIT: There is at least 6" of sleet/ice in the back of my truck The snow is covering up my spare tire, and depending on the area (more snow/ice in the front), the ice is no more than 3" below the snow. Can't open my tailgate to measure either. Too much ice on the bumper.

Yeah---it gets old in a hurry. I teach and we are always hoping for a snow day---nver happens in the land that time forgot (Columbia Station)---but when it does snow, it is very pretty---then it gets interesting watching people who have to relearn how to drive in it.
Last winter some idiot slid off the road and came nearly 30 feet up onto my lawn---almost to my front porch.

Sorry,
Those are my initials.
However, I do love the Tractor Supply---there is one down near Navarre that I stop at when I take my daughter back to college. Any one closer around here?
