I have about a zillion partial jugs of oil without labels (cuz they got wet and fell off)in my storage shed. Whenever it comes time to do a service, I just grab a bunch of jugs, pour them together and dump them in the engine. It could be chainsaw oil for all I know, or tranny fluid, probably a bit of cutting oil too. So far, everything is still running well.

Eventually I'll run out of partial jugs, then I'll start the process all over. Buy the right oil for everything, do proper oil changes, then have the partials stored in my shed, where the labels will get wet again and fall off (cuz I'm too cheap to fix the roof), then I'm back to where I am now. :santa:

It an Escape for Chit's sake - a POS like that shouldn't be allowed to waste our precious oil reserves.

I have never driven a crappier, tinnier, tippier, el-cheapo-interior'd, ugly wannabe excuse for an SUV in my life - well, except for a Hyundai .

Good grief, it's resembles what falls out of a dog's a$$, or something...

Go find some cheap olive oil on sale & use that...

With all the foreign japanese auto manu's merging with domestic auto manu's these days it's getting harder to figure out who's actually making them. I think the escape is a mazda in disguise just like my 1991 ford probe gt is/was way back when. Heck, I find mitsubishi parts in the engine bay of it sometimes. Gotta love it.

It's not a big deal. As long as it meets the API rating specified in the owner's manual, synthetic vs. dino vs. syn blend is not a big deal. If you're like me and want to stick with the manufacturer's recommendations, go with the synthetic blend or a full synthetic. If it really makes you nervous, stop by the store and pick up the *right* stuff, drain the old stuff out and refill it with the new stuff.

huh??? The Ford Escape is the best Selling small SUV. It rides great, solid as heck construction, has Intelligent 4x4 which goes on when needed. More yoys in it then my midsize SUV, Handles and Rides better then my 02 Mountaineer (Ford Explorer twin)

Point is, Ford Escape is no where near a cheep SUV what so ever, now when you pay over 30K for a Limited model as what we got.

Heres a picture of it a couple weeks after we got it, not a bad ride at all..

I drove one once on a made offroad course at a ford showcase a few years ago. They handled the dirt pretty well. A friend of mine has a mazda tribute, both very nice. I like something beefier though. But for mom it's great.
