Kramer goes nuts **NWS**
Kramer from sinfield went ballistic on a heckler at his show.
Not work safe, excessive use of racial slurs

I don't want to get too deep into this, but why is it if that had been Chris Rock calling a white heckler cracker or honkey or anything else it would be accepted and funny???
I'm not saying what did was in any way justified (the racial remarks anyway), just curious...

I would hope that if it was done with the same amount of anger that Michael Richards had, people would react the same. But unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world, so I know what you're saying.
I agree there is often a double standard applied, however, those comments seemed way out of line, as the guy stated-- uncalled for.

**Flame suit on**

EDIT: those are generalized statments, Kramer was out of line here completely
God knows I'm not one that gets caught-up in the whole politically correct, BS facade that has built-up around the use of the n-word.
In fact, I think all these folks who run around all high-and-mighty saying they've never used the word are either #1.) LIARS or #2.) SOCIAL MISFITS!
I mean c'mon -- can anyone really say they've never used the word? In fact, in some cases it can be quite an appropriate adjective!
But with that being said, what Mr. Richards did went WAY beyond the pale of whatever should be tolerated in a civil society. All I can say is that it's a good thing he made millions doing Seinfeld, 'cause he just cooked any chance he would ever have of being labeled anything but a pariah in today's society -- as well it probably should be.....

IMO, it sounded to me like he was trying to make an unintelligent joke about why some people go ape-s*** at the sight of another human-being with a different color of skin than their own. And then he got scared and went ape-s*** because there were actually black folks in the audience...
What a nut.

What a nut.
I had a white friend who fu*ked up and said "N!gger" in my presence. When I turned and looked at him, he got 3-4 shades whiter... He thought I was gonna whip his ***, but I told him: "Look, the right black person would whip your *** just for saying that because you're not black. But, I'm not gonna whip your *** because to me, the word itself is not the trigger. It's the context in which it's said that would push my buttons".
And, that's true. Between he and I, I was his "N!gga" and he was my "Cracka". Then we started calling each other "Cracker" I was the graham cracker, he was the saltine. But, he knew that was just between me and him, and he knew that saying that sh*t arong the wrogn black person, or away from the safety of a majority of white folks, could result in him gettign his *** whipped. But, I know he didn't mean anything by it, so it was not a biggie.
As a black man, we can tell when the word "N*gger" is being used in a derragatory way, and let me tell you- the ***-whipping that would word would initiate for a white person, applies to a black person who uses the term in a derragatory way as well. It's not as literal as it may seem.
Some black folks have a zero tolerance policy for that word, no matter who uses it. Other's use it between friends, and others use it as a manner of showing the other person that they're on the same wavelength. That is of knowing that no matter what a black man accomplishes, it will always be tainted by someone who believes you only got what you have because of affirmative action, or easy school entrance, whether that's the case or not.
I use it, but I only use it with friends. And it's usually limited to certain times:
And, when we're good friends with a white person, we might introduce you as our "N*gga". That just means you are a really good friend.
But, I never approach a black person I don't know, and say something like...
Say N*gga.. What time is it?
That might get my **** whipped, or shot. Just like I'd never walk up to a white person, and say: What are you crackas over here laughing at?
So, Chris Rock is a celebrity. he has a mixed crowd at his shows, but most of his fans are black, and he's black so his using the word, just like Dave Chappelle, while I'm sure is offensive to many blacks, doesn't offend every black person because he is black. Personally, I don't like him saying "Cracker" as much as he does, but- it's up to white folks to chin-check Chris about that... esides, white folks write Chris' check. Believe me, if they told him not to say that sh*t, he wouldn't say it anymore.
If you wear the skin, be it black, brown, yellow, red, or white- feel free to insult your own race as much as you like... When you start popping sh*t about other races, you take your career into your own hands.
I guess the only racial word that would even come close to "N*gger" in terns of it's derragatory impact, would be "Spic" or "Wet Back". I can't think of any other racial words that are as bad as those words- then again, I dare anyone to walk into an Italian neighborhood, whether you're Italian or not, and start talking about "Wop" this, or "wop" that... I guarantee you, you'd have an **** whipping within the first 20 minutes.
Three things to take away from all this:
1.) If you're just dying to refer to your black friends as N*ggers, you'd better drop the sound of the "er" and replace it with the "a" sound- or you might get your rse whipped.
2.) You might want to ask first, otherwise, you might get your **** whipped.
3.) Beware of the context in which you use the "N" word, even if you get permission. You and your black friend watching Chapelle, and you bust out and say, "That n*gga is crazy!" Your black friend might laugh with you... But, get in a car wreck and jump out and say, "What the f**k is wrong with you? You stupid-*** N*gger!" the driver, and your friend might whip your ****...
Context is key...
The first amendment protects your right to say it though- so say it if you like. Just remember, that amendment won't protect your teeth.
You gotta pick your fights...

As a paid Comedian this guy is by default a professional.
Was his behavior professional? No.
Was his behavior entertaining to his audience? No.
Was this a momentary lapse of judgment? No, he went on and on.
To me he looked like someone who has lost control and is about
ready to start throwing punches. Totally out of line.

I understand what you're saying Hersh... I know a word only has the emphasis and/or meaning that you apply to it. I just don't see why anyone needs to use such words in public... and why as so many joke about only a white man is a racist.
I get tired of hearing about race. I honestly don't care what color your skin is. It means absolutely nothing. You can have pale white skin and be an *******, you can have dark brown skin and be an *******. but if I don't like you its because you're an ******* not because you're an ******* with a particular color of skin...
I also get tired of filling out forms that ask for my race. I check "other" and write in Human. If race is no longer an issue why do I need to fill out any form that asks for it...
If anyone really wants to know I'm Iro-Gero-Native American DON'T CALL ME WHITE BOY! Seriously, I'm an American just like the rest of you. Well, the majority on here I believe...
and as I mentioned I really don't care what your skin color is, or where your parents moved here from. My wife is Veitnamese (decent) and I have some very good friends who are white, black, mexican (decent), Italian (decent)and Cherokee... It doesn't make any difference, and I can't remember ever referring to any of them by any racial slur... although, I guess I do occasionally refer to myself as the "Big dumb white guy" when I'm around the in-laws...
