Damn deer!!!

My day was going just great, until tonight. My girlfriend called and said that she was going to workout after work and would be home a little late. I just got in from plowing the drive way, we just got 4" of snow today , and the phone rings. Its my girlfriend, who is just about just about crying, and says that she just hit a deer. She said that she is only about 2 miles from the house, so I told her just to drive home and I will call the sheriffs dept, insurance company, ect. After making all the calls, I take the car, 05 Ford Focus, to a buddies body shop. After fighting with the hood to get that open we start to look for what needs to get fixed. Here is the list that we came up with:

-new hood and paint
-repair both front fenders and paint
-new front bumper and paint
-drivers side headlight
-grill
-hood latch
-hood release
-core support (which is made out of fiberglass and is cracked)

Mark is going to get me a price worked up on monday. He is guessing $3500-4000. Not exactly the way that I wanted to start off my weekend.

Sorry, I had to vent alittle!!!

Hell, you have every right to vent.

I hate that for you. I know what you mean. I just put $900 into my wifes Nissan Altima (front end) to drive back and forth to work (80 miles a day) and let the fiddy get a break.

I hit a dead dog the first day. I hit a dead deer the second. And parked that evil SOB on the third.

I hit a dead deer last year about this time. It was at about 5:15 in the morning. Scared the hell out of me.

Sorry about the car PHS79, that sux. It scares me to have to get on the highway around here anymore, the deer are thick and I see a dead one almost every time I head to town. I keep my fingers crossed that my number doesn't come up.

I feel for you.

I hit a deer just before Christmas last year. Luckily I just clipped it. So the damage wasn't too bad. I twisted the bumper and damaged the drivers side fender. My nerf bars saved the side of the truck from damage. I found scuff marks on them the next day.
Unfortunately, I had my Mother-in-Law, wife, and both little girls in the truck. Of course, the 4 year old began to cry because Daddy just whacked Rudolf and therefore Christmas wasn't coming.

Luckily your girlfriend is OK, other than being shaken up. The truck can be fixed.

Same here.

It was real dark, and about the same time in the morning. I was cruising along (65MPH), and I didn't see it till I was right up on a huge "mound" in the road, and BAMM!

Good thing I didnt wreck. I didn't know what I hit, so turned around to go look after I checked the car out. It tore up the front bump, and threw the alignment out pretty good.

eh, I lived...but I aint driving that damn car NO MORE.

Do those whistle things work that are meant to make a noise to scare them off.

That sucks you guys. Ive nicked a few Im pretty sure, or else it was like a millimeter from hitting them. Hard to tell. Never smashed into one though, suprisingly. They are thick here, but deer season just started yesterday.

Deer are a dominant species around here-Bartak1 fixes that little problem. Natural selection? Pfft, its Bartak1 selection

From what I've been told from folks that have used the "deer whistles" is that they don't seem to work. I've talked to people that have hit deer without them, fixed the car, got the whistles, then turned around and hit another deer.

With the deer population climbing the way it is, they need to work something out to lengthen the deer hunting seasons in most places.

Glad she was okay!! Just be thankful it didn't come through the windshield!! It happens on small cars like the Focus.

Just be glad it was not a Moose.
