Way to hijack a thread guys

Oscar, I don't know if there is a fund set up for donations or not. Check the Utah Humane Society's web page. They had some stuff about Henry on there but I didn't read it all, there might be something on donations.

Bruzr, I have little patience with blasphemy myself. However, I've come to realize over the years that once a person has his mind made up on the matter there is not much you can do to change it. Better to just cut and run than have to listen to them spout. Know your beliefs, that's what really matters. There are a few subjects that I avoid here on the forums, religion is one, politics is another. They always end in arguments because each side is trying to change the others mind. It's a vicious cycle that I prefer to avoid.

Crap, here I was giving y'all a hard time about drift and I just hijacked my own thread!

I think that this site needs a Religion/Politics section.

The one thing I will say is that God does not need anyone to defend His existence.

The fool says in his heart that there is no God. Creation testifies of Him. If a person refuses to see that, then it's best to shake the dust off your feet, and move on. You can't argue anyone into God's Kingdom, and a non-believer will usually say anything to get a violent reaction from a believer so that he can point out the hypocrisy.

I miss Mighty Whitey.

I agree we need a religion/politics forum 1969 Mach.

Ain't that the way it always goes? Evil does not comprehend what's good and righteous and truthful. And good doesn't comprehend wickedness. I've tried to change a few peoples minds to get them to believe, but it's like talking to a wall. I don't understand why they won't even make an effort to try to understand? There's a deep dark barrier there somewhere. It's like holding a cross in front of a vampire's face. They'll hiss and moan at you until you take it away. I'll just take it as one of those things that's not meant for me to understand.

I grew up "in the church." I understand religion and it's attraction. I once believed, as a child, in God. I also believed in Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Great Pumpkin. Well, maybe not the Great Pumpkin. LOL

I grew to understand that God is nothing more that the answer to the unanswerable questions that men have. The more we understand about things, the smaller God gets. I am not professing to understand the Universe anymore than the next guy; but, I'm not going to follow a religion that is, to my mind, little more than believing the Sun is pulled across the sky by Helios.

Is there a higher power, a greater being(s), a creator? I'd say maybe; but, I'm pretty sure he isn't intimately involved with each and every creature in the Universe. Is there an afterlife or something beyond death? Maybe again; but, I don't think it's anything like what has been taught by any religion. I'm not sure even that murderers are treated any differently in it than saints will be.

I don't begrudge anyone their beliefs. I do take umbrage to being told I'm going to hell unless I believe what you do. As do all the people who have different religious beliefs than Christians.

I'm human, imperfect in every way that others are. In the moment that I face death, I may find religion again out of fear. It doesn't mean that what I think now isn't true. It proves my imperfection. I hope I'm strong enough to hold to my convictions even then. I'd hate to die a hypocrite; but, I won't live as one.

I've never heard his voice either. But I still believe. Take for example... When a father talks to his children, he tells them what to do, shows them how to live, and gives them guidance and direction in life. God gave his children ears to hear his teachings, and eyes to see the path to glory he lay before you. That's his loving will for you. If you stray from the path, he will try to lead you back to the straight and narrow like any loving father would do. Those who refuse to listen get lost.

Don't you see? It doesn't have to be a voice that you can hear with your ears. His Word is lain out before your eyes so you can read his teachings. It can be found in the Holy Bible. God puts his Word on the hearts of mankind through his children. Whether it be from a preacher, a church member, or a stranger talking to you on the street.

God gave his only begotten son as a sacrifice for your sins because he loves you. And whosoever believes the Son of man died for the sins of all mankind on that bloody cross, and that God rose him from the dead on the third day, and humbles themselves before God, and repents of their sins, and confesses with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and Savior, you shall become a child of God and you shall be saved.

If you pray this to God, right then and there you became a child of God. And the Father will watch over you till' your dying day and lead you on the path of righteousness.

I respect your beliefs. And I won't try to push mine because I've got a lot of learning to do myself. I'm just saying what I believe.
