That's Las Vegas Metro for you... they don't mess around, and I don't blame them. The part that everyone has to realize is that this happened on the strip where literally thousands of people are out walking around 24/7. Now you don't see a whole lot of people in this particular video, but they are all around. IMO the officer had to put an end to the situation before it got out of control. Could the guy have been too drunk to understand what was going on? Maybe, but that's not an excuse. The cop didn't get him on the ground and beat his ****, he just took him down and then cuffed him. He had to act quickly, because if the guy did have a weapon of some sort it could have been real ugly, especially with innocent bystanders everywhere.

Las Vegas Metro has had 19 officer involved shootings this year, with 10 resulting in death. The media is all over them, and they are investigated after each incident. IMO if a cop tells you to do something, unless it is illegal or immoral, you better do it!

Your always gonna have some that will always throw the excessive flag out on every scenario. They are usually the ones who have never been in a situation anywhere close to the one they are passing judgements on.

I believe it was Wook that said he had a deer in the headlights look, I can tell you from experience that was not the glazed over deer in the headlights look, even if he was plastered and slow mentally that's the I'm thinking look, and when your giving someone commands and they are thinking about it your about to be in a world of trouble.

The officer not only gave clear commands but also told the guy exactly why he wanted his hands out of his pockets by telling him it was scaring him. Right after being told to take his hands out of his pockets he immedatly reaches back down, I know in my department it would have happened exactly the same way except most likely with a taser and not a take down. Go to your local gun store and take a look at the wide selection of pocket .22's these days, then do some research on how many times officers have been shot and then come back with some opinions.
