Ford Edge
#23
The Ford Edge is a Mazda CX-7. The CX-7 has been out for a few months now and it's very nice.
The CX-7, the Edge, the Ford Fusion, the Mercury Milan, The Lincoln Zephyr (or whatever they're calling it now) all are built on the Mazda 6 platform. (So for you anti-japanese cars folks, get over it . . . )
Actually, I like the CX-7's interior better than what Ford did with the Edge. You might want to check out the Mazda (not to mention that it's cheaper too). I also like the sleeker CX-7's exterior appearance than the Edge . . . but that's just me.
The MDX is nice too, but if you're in this price range you should give serious consideration to the Lexus RX. A tricked out Edge is in the 30's. The Lexus RX "starts" at 38 on paper, but don't believe it. My Lexus dealer sells them (and the ES sedan) at invoice more times than not. They sells trillions of these models this way. They still make their hold back and Lexus pays them big bonuses on the back side for volume, so buying an RX at around the same price as the fully tricked out Edge is doable, and it's just a much better vehicle.

Acura is an upgraded Honda.
Infiniti is an upgraded Nissan.
Lexus is an upgraded Toyota.
Aston Martin is an upgraded Jaguar.
Mercury is an up, I mean, down, I mean... Ah, what the heck...
The CX-7 is Mazda's foray into the realm of cross-over SUV's...
The upcoming CX-9 will be a direct competitor for the MDX, RX350 & 370, as well as other high end/mid-level SUV's, complete with "rumored' 7-passenger seating.
The Lincoln is the one that's really ripping Acura. Acura has the "MDX" The new Lincolnized version of the Edge will be the Lincoln MKX, similiarly styled, similiarly sized, ahem, similiarly badged...
Acura sued, and I don't know how it ended... Probably with Ford paying $$ to shut them up. Ford was wrong for that sh*t... Remember when they pitched a b*tch about Toyota's initial choice of "T-150" (Which was an evolution from their old "T-100"?
Ford had a fit, saying T-150 was too close to F-150, and the Tundra was born as a result. Now, Ford has done the same crap they whinned about 7 years ago.
Oh well, it's not cheating if the "ref" doesn't catch you...

I've had the literature on the Edge for a while now... Still waiting on one to show up at the local stealership to really check it out though. On a similar note, I am a closet Nissan Murano liker... Glad to see Ford coming to the table with something to compete.
