The formating gets very messed up.
That seems strange to me. If the app is following standard HTML and scripting rules it should display fine. If it is using ActiveX controls etc than I can understand the problem

Just wait. They will now be screwed up with IE7. MS is finally sticking to standards when it come to HTML. Something they never did before. If the pages were designed with MS software, that might be part of the reason the pages didn't look right in FF.

Nope
I am an asp.Net dev but the front end was made with dreamweaver or something. Lots of graphics. But the things that get messed up the most are the buttons and other controls with styles. (Like a button with a backcolour and border to make it flat.)
