This is probably a stupid question, but how do you find out which version of IE you have? I'm running Windows XP.

If you have XP, and haven't upgraded then most likely you have 6.0.
Click Help, About IE, and it will say there.

Open IE. Goto "Help" -> "About Internet Explorer", there you can see your version. Unless you have downloaded and installed IE7 you are running 6.

Minimum configuration for Opera 9:
20 MB of free disk space
Any system running Windows 95 (or higher)

These requirements only apply to Opera. Third-party plug-ins such as Flash, Java and others may have higher requirements.

Recommended configuration for Opera 9:
Pentium II class system with 64 MB of RAM and at least 50 MB of free disk space
Windows 98 or higher

While Opera 9 should run on any 32-bit version of Windows, the performance on computers below Pentium II class may not make it particularly usable. Legacy versions of Opera, such as Opera 6 and below, are better suited for such systems.

Legacy versions of Opera for Windows are available from the Opera archive at arc.opera.com.

Installing Opera 9 on Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.0 requires the Windows Installer to be installed on your system. Alternatively you can select the classic installer when downloading Opera, but this will require you to manually download language files for languages other than US English.

D, have you tried Firefox and it's extensions? Why is it the only .05% of web users use Opera? Did you pay for it, or did you use the ad filled version until they recently started giving it away?

Mozilla and Firefox has a large community of enthusiasts who design and develop add-ons for Firefox. These include and number of different themes/skins, integrated search engines, plug-ins, and extensions. Extensions are little programs/additions and can integrate into Firefox.

Some of my favorites are:
GMail notifier - An icon in the bottom right of my browser window tells me how many unread emails I have, without me having to login and check.
Fasterfox - Speeds up browsing and adds a timer telling you how long the page took to load.
StockTicker - Scrolls across the bottom right of my browser.
ForecastFox - Shows a daily forecast, current weather conditions, and when moused over a doppler radar image of my surrounding area.

great reply jenky. I like the email one, I use several emails with my outlook express, is there an addon for that (i'm assuming gmail notifier only works with gmail).

Unfortunately it looks like there are no outlook extensions out there. This might help you, but could be a pain to set up. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3799/

Another one to download is either IETab or IEView. I happen to use IETab. It allows you to link to IE for those particular sites that require it, without bringing up a full IE window, like windows update.
