Question about my beater car....

Beater car is a 91 Celica with 221,000 miles

The power steering makes a squeeling noise when you turn the wheel all the way left or right. This only happens when the motor is cold, so only the first couple minutes after it's first cranked. Power steering fluid is full, belts are in good shape, I just don't know why it squeels when you turn the wheel all the way to one side.

Any thoughts?

Someone swap in a ford power steering pump?

Seriously, every truck in the fleet and every ford we've had makes PS noise. Try some fresh fluid.

first off, he's not talking about a Ford, and secondly, Power Steering should never ever sound like its squealing on any make or model car. All My fords never make squealing sounds.

Green-98,

I know theres bushings inside those steering racks in those cars, maybe there deciding to dry out after that many miles, or your power steering pump maybe telling you it's going to let go soon, I had a mercury sable years ago that squealing started to happen when I turned all the way, and sure enough, not to long after, the power steering pump blew and needed to get a new one. Then after it was all quite again.

He was making a joke Mattie! I work at a Ford dealer and trust me....they all make power steering pump noise! Go back in the shop and listen and it sounds like a bunch of mating sheep or something.
