[QUOTE=Raoul]Let's think this through.
One.
Two.
[QUOTE]

Still thinking like westerners with christian values.

1- None of them will ever hear or see about this incident. They live in caves or mudhouse towns that may/may not have electricity. Besides the quran forbids viewing of TV, Radio, Movies etc.
If they hear about this they would not consider it a show of american strength and good will but a show of weakness. It would embolden them because they realize that the US military is hamstrung by morals, ethics and politics. Not only would their morale and enthusiasm be lifted, it would make a great recruiting pitch to get more fanatics to join their cause.

2- 190 dead taliban, paid of relatives of disturbed corpses and a renovated mosque for the local town.

This incident clearly shows that we (western civ) are on the way to losing a war that will reshape the political and religious makeup of the civilized world.

Fritz

Sometimes you operate within the rules, but other times, you take the gloves off.

I would have called in an AC-130, and rained 1,500 - 2,000 20 MM rounds on them. Morals compromised, but- 190 Enemy dead, cemetery preserved.

I see Raoul's point though, and he makes great sense...

Six in one hand, half-dozen in the other.

I don't know why we're playing with these guys. We have satellites that can spot a rivet on a soviet ship from 22,000 miles away, so I know we know where these SOB's are hiding, training, etc... I'd hit them Al Queda style, and bomb all their sites, simultaneously.

Anyone remember Patriot Games? When the terrorists knew when the satellite was coming into position to see them, and they moved to cover. HTF would they know that, yet they didn't see the Predator.

The Predator only has 1 or 2 Maverick Missles. It's doubtful that was enough firepower to kill 190 men. It may have Killed 20, woulded 40, and scared the schyt of of 130. If you're gonna do it, you've got to do it right.

MLRS, 155MM Howitzers, AC-130, or a couple of 2,000 lbs bombs.

They could have dropped 1 bomb killed them all, without leaving a mark on the ground or on the bodies. It's called fuel/air explosive. Kills by concussion.
Not saying that neccessarily is right, but they could have done it with no one being the wiser.

2,000 20 mike mike rounds would not leave much left of the cemetary or the mourners. If you're going to play by terrorist rules nuke Mecca durring the hadj and wipe out a ton of them. Since this isn't a declared crusade and we're fighting extremists, not every muslim in sight we'd probably get a dirty look from some of the muckity mucks and euroweenies for doing so.

There is a valid reason why we try our best to preserve certan sites (hospitals, churches, etc)

Some of You guys are Pu$$ies i swear.. When these 190 go on to kill and mame more of our soldiers most likely ambush or roadside bomb them will leaving the gloves on still matter if its someone one you know or worse born and raised. Maybe we should continue to just leave on the latex gloves and give them a big wave and even a hug (what the hell a reach around since we have gloves on) as they attend a church service or they are near a cemetery, mosque, maybe a day at the beach what the hell. I do not want to see unnecessary bombings but these guys were stacked like bowling pins and all we needed to do was roll a 20lb ball straight at them and WALA a strike. Its war and with blinders on we are all surely in huge trouble. When opportunity presents itself you take full advantage and bloody there noses but good.

Buckdropper,

If you're ever in southern VA drop me a line. I'd like to BS with you over some beverages of your choice.

As for this thread we're at war with the extremists, not every run of the mill arab. How you tell the difference before they blow themselves up is beyond me. I don't think we disagree as much as you think.

Just for the record, I will compromise my position for beer.

For a 40oz, I'll rename my two kids, 'Rumsfeld' and 'Cheney'.

Powell made a comment about us losing the moral high ground in a war where having it is neccessary to claim any victory at all.

But I suppose he'll be shouted down as a *******?
